Better to view as *troll* and deprive of the "oxygen" of responding.
A question in all of this is, "What is the objective of particular posts that are untrue or misleading?"
Individuals who are acting with the sole motive of provoking an emotional response are probably best ignored, thus depriving them of "'oxygen' of responding" as you say. The key characteristic is that such persons will take any side of an issue in order to wind people up.
But we also know that social media is consciously employed by bad actors in an organized campaign to spread disinformation to achieve specific objectives. In this case the dilemma is whether to ignore these posters or to counter the disinformation. Ignoring such posters allows the disinformation to stand without a counter narrative, while countering it usually winds up descending into and unproductive food fight that enhances ideological division. Neither option is really attractive.
For instance, in the microcosm of LetsRun and the run up to the election Rigged spammed the Trump thread with the "dementia Joe" narrative. I would have voted for a head of cabbage over Trump, but admit to having doubts about Biden's mental capacity before the first debate largely blew up that narrative. Propaganda in the form of a repeated narrative has an effect and none of us are immune to it. From the recent DNI we know that there was a foreign hand in promoting this narrative, though, to be fair probably plenty of domestic partisans as well.
In the larger arena of social media, Twitter, Facebook, and so forth have and continue the struggle to strike the balance between freedom of communication and the exploitation of that media by bad actors. Their approach has evolved over time which has become a political battleground of it's own.
I don't know how best to resolve this issue of disinformation in social media, but I would suggest promoting awareness that it is a serious issue is an important advance from where we were in 2016. That is, simply ignoring bad actors isn't always optimum. I believe that identifying and calling out bad actors is also key to mitigating their impact.
At the individual poster level, my hope is that the community can self-organize to define and to some extent enforce the social norms for the board even while the board administrators take a hands off approach.

And all under the guise of saving the country from the evil libs. I posted about this on the trump thread... tuned into Newsmax to see what kinds of horrors they are spewing and caught an interview with Gaetz. The topic was election fraud - crazy claims that Democrats do it all the time and always get away with it. Geatz said the GOP needs to get ahead of the problem by using all their political power and money to elect loyalists (aka trumpers) who can influence the election process in swing states. The host suggested prison time to make sure criminal Dem election officials are punished, to which Gaetz disagreed - of course because the only ones committing election wrongdoing are Rs. He said the Dems are just too good at getting around the law and then once the results are in it's just too late to find the evidence and do anything about it. This came from a US Congressman... a POS, but still a US Congressman.
Dems need to kill the filibuster and pass national voting rights and other measures they were voted in to get done. Without a shred of doubt if the Rs were in the same position and being stifled, they would take whatever measures they could. A majority of americans will support national voting legislation and if the Rs get majority back in the future they can go against the will of the people and try to reverse it.
Moocher states are .... Red. Liar Shaun Hannity claims they are Democrat run states. Nope.
11 of the 12 most federal handout dependent are run by Republicans
19 of the 25 most dependent states are run by Republicans
12 of the 14 LEAST dependent states are run by Democrats

FYI. Tar Baby is unregistered. You did take the pledge, right?
And before the Tar Baby gets hot and bothered I'll again point out that, no, "Tar Baby" is not a racist term.
But yes, I am a racist. The white race is obviously inferior to all the others.

Republicans tossed 22 votes out because the envelopes were not perfect. The election they tossed them out was for a house seat where a republican won by SIX votes. If the 22 votes get counted the democrat wins by NINE votes.
Republicans stealing a House seat in plain sight.

No, the heel is not Sally.
I'll vouch for him. Or her.

This is good news. Biden is letting Mexico and Canada have some of the 30 million doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine we have collecting dust on the shelf.
Not clear if it is meant as an inducement to stop the immigration rush.
"The Biden administration has agreed to supply Mexico with excess doses of the coronavirus vaccine, and Mexico is moving to help the United States contain a migration surge along its southern border, according to senior officials from both countries involved in the conversations.
The decision to send AstraZeneca vaccine to Mexico, and to Canada, is expected to be announced Friday. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had asked President Biden to help them fill vaccine shortfalls in recent talks.
Mexican and U.S. officials who described the agreement said it was not a quid pro quo conditioning the delivery of vaccines on an enforcement crackdown. Rather, the United States made clear it sought help from Mexico managing a record influx of Central American teenagers and children. Mexico pledged to take back more Central American families “expelled” under a U.S. emergency health order, while also urging Biden to share the U.S. vaccine supply, said the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the conversations."

Even if the Tar Baby is not Sally all the time, it could be Sally some of the time. There is nothing that stops Sally from posting as "Marietta Tar Heel".
Tar Baby needs to register.
LOL, this is too funny. Biden declares the border open and that we wont deport anyone and then blames Mexico. Another Biden f'up.
Trump was right, "they're not sending their best. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems to us."

You know very well it's the fair and honorable thing to do. And unlike reparations, we wouldn't have to spend taxpayer money to do it.
White men are responsible for everything that is wrong today in our country. White men can't be trusted with voting.
So let's let women and minorities run the country for awhile. They would do a much better job.
1) Not an argument at all, just a statement of fact. So your ""brilliant argument" is irrelevant and moronic. (note that this is also a fact)
2) Only a moron would go into the identity politics thing like you love to do. Hence one can safely conclude that you are a moron.
3) The people who lived and voted before women and black folks could vote as well as the people who lived and were denied the right to vote during those same years are all dead. Disenfranchising a portion of the population at this time based on how some people who looked somewhat similar (and are now dead) did is about as unfair and dishonorable as it gets.
You are a moron.
Agreed - you can counteract disinformation from trolls without specifically engaging with the troll.

But I think I made my point. Boy, you white men sure got hot and bothered with even the suggestion that you might be denied the right to vote. Maybe now you know a little about how it feels for others.

But at least we could make it harder for white men to vote. Maybe there should be a law that says you can't vote if you are wearing khakis.

Shut up, half breed.
I find it hard to find the words to express what dumbsh/ts Trumpists are.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution did a good job today.
Note that Georgia ranks dead last in getting at least one shot into its citizens' arms.

"Georgia’s big push to quell COVID-19 began Monday with overwhelming demand, prompting celebrations among those able to get vaccines into their arms and frustrations for those who couldn’t.
Appointments were quickly booked at vaccination sites in Fulton County, DeKalb County, Macon and Habersham County. Fulton’s vaccine hotline saw a surge in callers trying to get a place in line. Others navigated though the multiple state and pharmacy sign-up websites available to Georgians, only to be likely informed that all slots were gone and they’d be contacted at a later date.
Meanwhile rural areas of Georgia saw the opposite situation, with the state having shipped more doses than there are people willing or able to take them. Some savvy metro Atlanta vaccine seekers have been taking advantage of the low demand by booking appointments in distant zip codes, and Gov. Brian Kemp on Monday urged Atlanta-area residents to do just that to prevent vaccines going to waste."

Remember, the GOP always needs the base to be suffering (poverty, loss of jobs, disease, no insurance, etc), otherwise their platform of victimizing and blaming others is worthless.
