It certainly feels like the wrong year for the Cincinnati/Dayton boys to get 6 teams to state, and the Columbus boys to only get 5.
It’s why there should be some revision for qualifying. It happens almost every year that some deserving team is left home while another team from a different region is left at home. The disparity is probably more pronounced at D2 & D3.

In the girls’ side it’s going to be a team from NE Ohio that gets shafted.
This is the day we find out if Kilbourne and Scioto have got the mettle to get to Obetz as a team.
I say: no . . . they don't.
It's also the day we find out if Westerville North, Coffman, Lancaster, Orange, and Jerome have the mettle to not blow up when the pressure is on. It's going to be sloppy and muddy by 2:45 with the rain and other races. A slip, fall, etc, may mean one team advances and not another. I'm curious to see if all teams are at full strength with all the sickness going around. I'm not sure any of those teams have the depth to overcome the loss - or underperformance - of one of their top 5. Should be fun! We've been talking about this one all fall!
Many years ago, districts and regionals determined the number of qualifiers based on the number of schools in their respective district/region. This made the highly populated areas get more qualifiers. This was done to reduce travel.
Many complained. They changed the format to each district/region getting equal representation to the next level. However, some schools had to drive past a district/region meet and go another 2 hours to get to their assigned meet.
There were also increasing numbers of boys teams in one division and girls in another which ran district/region at different locations. In some cases this forced a coach to decide to travel/coach boys or girls but both were impossible.
OHSAA, due to increasing complaints, went back to the original "uneven" district/regional qualifiers to assure a school did not have their boys and girls split between sites and reduce travel.
Having a loaded district/region is not much different than two of the best teams (football, basketball, soccer,....) face each other early in the tournament. OHSAA sees the tournament as a way of selecting team champions whether the best face each other early or late in the tournament. It is not designed to assure the best X amount of teams are at the state meet or the best two teams in other sports meet in the final.
Looks like I’m only seeing 3 runners from Hil. Davidson in this region entries list. So they didn’t make regions as a team so they won’t be racing for a state spot

Bradley from Kilbourne was their #4 runner and only 10 seconds behind their 3rd. Solid step-up by him
But according to Milesplit, that was Katsares? (The guy who people on here said he was their 5th but out for the season). Glad he raced and helped his team finish as well as possible

It’s absolutely ridiculous how in this region they only allow 5 teams at state but in others they allow 7. I think all 7 teams from the Pickerington region belong at state.

Bolton ended up scoring 4th for Coffman and ran a pretty weak time considering what he has been running earlier in the season, and Coffman only had 1 runner in the top 20. Even with these results, Coffman still manages to win the stacked central Regional. I think Mason, Mass. Jackson, St.X and Coffman are the teams to watch for the podium. Thoughts?
