You only exist here as an eternal punching bag - someone who will endure any ridiculous and aggressive insult, and yet, without fail, always return for more punishment, until the very end of time. It is in your nature, your purpose for existing.
Now get your neck back under my boot and try not to make too many gargling noises. I'm trying to watch a hockey game.
I competed at the Olympic Trials in tae kwon do. You really think you are going to put your boot under my neck? Are you like 12?
Bragging, fantasizing about physical contact, and then asking for age. Sounds like a come-on.
The side where we have a POTUS who will impose SWIFT/bank sanctions on Putin, his oligarchs and we stop buying their oil. Biden has done the equivalent of slapping a parking ticket on Putin. We have a weak POTUS that our enemies will take advantage at will.
I fear that our terrestrial and mortal understanding of mental illness is not enough to comprehend your transcendence into a whole new ethereal realm of giga retardation.

I totally support his right to disagree with the president.
I have a big problem with him taking Putin's side, especially when our troops are staring him down across the border.
Sally, saying that border agents don't count is a cop out. Whether you define them as troops or not is immaterial. They are there to support the effort to resist Putin. If you say that effort is not important then you are taking Putin's side.
Gary, if you really hate Putin you need to support that effort as well.
To borrow from Will Ferrell, is everyone taking crazy pills??? Our border patrol patrols American borders. Nothing else. To suggest they should be patrolling the Polish border is beyond crazy. Put our military there but not the border patrol. We have millions of unvaccinated illegals crossing the Mexican border. They need to be there.
You are wrong.
Just as you said, if border patrol agents were not there then our military would have to do that job.
The border patrol agents are supporting our military in Poland. You should do the same.
I tend to get overly optimistic but have to think there is a chance for some very good things to come out of this.
1/ getting away from fossil fuels is obviously a national security issue and a Manhattan Project effort is needed. Wars over the last decades tend to have oil around them, and it's enough. Get us off oil and there will be fewer wars.
2/Decades of work by Russia in splitting up NATO and driving wedges into the West have been undone in a week. Putin sabotaged his own great project. The West plus others are unified. India is reluctant but I suspect they will walk back into the Western fold pretty soon after a little gambit.
3/ Plucky Ukraine will inspire the world for centuries. Even if they ultimately lose their country. Feels great to see a country fight for itself again an unambiguous threat.
the bad is:
Putin may go away...which would leave a nuclear state in chaos. That's a massive danger to every human being.
I suppose another downside is that any sort of gun control measures in the US are impossible until people forget about this war.
Seeing pictures of regular people with military-grade guns, going out to defend their city...that's a powerful picture and US politicians won't be able to push back against it.
here's an actual conservative. not a trumpist 'conservative.' Romney is able to tell the truth and condemn what is bad. Trumpists only want to own the big city college grads, damn the truth or human decency.
Mitt Romney: “And you know, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar, I don't know them, but I'm reminded of that old line for the Butch Cassidy the Sundance Kid movie where one character says, 'Morons, I've got morons on my team,'” he said on @CNNSotu to @DanaBashCNN

who would downvote this and why? The pro-carbon lobby? The pro-nuclear war types?
some idiot did once tell me that his goal was to have the biggest carbon footprint possible. Maybe we're dealing with idiocy like that here.

Say hi to rojo for us while you're there!
A majority of Americans think Joe Biden is weak, untrustworthy, and has the mental sharpness of a bowl of jello. You live in la la land.

This post has aged really well. ;)
Even with this SWIFT announcement which affects SELECTED banks (not all their banks) Russia will still be able to sell oil & gas to the world. Europe STILL buys 40% of their natural gas & 25% of their crude oil from Russia and still sell 600K barrels per day to the US.
These sanctions still have no teeth and Russia is still selling oil.

It's just the anti-agip crowd. Your post was exactly right and hard to argue with.

As you have seen, the sanctions can get tighter and tighter over time. Europe has to decide if a full-on embargo is worth the pain.
It is important for the US to be in sync with Europe on sanctions in order to present a united front. Since the US won't feel as much pain as Europe, we will gladly go as far as Europe is willing.

Honestly, this is not completely true. Oil is available in many ways all over the globe. The new technologies you speak of will also be subject to natural availability of whatever scarce resource that they will end up being dependent upon. This will just change the hotspots where wars for control of the resources will occur unless they are all controlled by our allies.

The war might, maybe, possibly, help to get Europe off fossil fuel. But even though Europe has been much better on that front than any other part of the world, I still doubt it will happen.
The problem is that humanity wants more and more energy. We've already deployed massive capacity of solar and wind, but emissions keep going higher. So we aren't so much replacing fossil fuels with renewables. We are just using more energy.
Until governments put a stop to new pipelines, new wells, and new mines, we will not make much progress.

Sunshine is not a scarce resource.
agip is basically correct here. But as I said, we have to actually stop using fossil fuels for this idea to work.
