Do you think China (our actual geopolitical rival) gives a crap about Putin? Are they offended by his authoritarianism or something? They probably said thankyouverymuch we'll buy that cheap gas if EU doesn't want it.
China wants stability. they don't want a messy sloppy world economy with tanker wars, high oil prices, slowed trade, cyber attacks and slower economic growth. They just want everything to stay the same. Russia's war is counter to those goals.
And they don't want to be forced to choose among any powers. Wars can make you choose.
I don't think China minds energy prices going lower for them and higher for everyone else (participating in the sanctions)

Most of their infrastructure still relies on coal which is why they nearly sh!t a brick when Australia finally wised up.
US and China are currently in economic MAD, so I doubt they'll do much to support Putin. Energy increases over here mean less cheap bullsh!t we buy from there.
And like agip said, authoritarian regimes depend on rigid stability
So Russia attacked and is saying they neutralized all of Ukraine’s air defenses while Joe Biden was sleeping. Which is next to go under Democrat foreign policy? Taiwan?

So do you believe American troops should have defended Ukraine's air defenses?
If not, what do you think Biden should have done about it?

Whatever the notecards in his pockets told him to do.

That's a good snarky response, but since nobody has a real answer to my questions, it bolsters my point.
None of this is Biden's fault. He's done a very good job playing the cards he was dealt. I'm just so thankful that Trump is not president right now.
Is ANYTHING ever Joe's fault? The Russian invasion is not. The 40-year high inflation is not. The supply chain problems are not. The stock market currently tanking is not. The millions of unvaccinated illegals crossing the border are not. The racial divide in the country is not. The record number of Covid deaths is not. Nothing is ever his fault.

Can you explain how any of those things are Biden's fault?
Note that you need to provide real actions he could take to do a better job.

I will address one ... the millions of unvaccinated illegals crossing the border. He can secure the border and any illegals who do come here must be vaccinated just like many of the rest of us. See how easy that is?

Instead of SOT Mayor Pete taking off 3 months for paternity/maternity? and saying how highways are racist, he could have addressed the supply chain problems.

And what action could he actually take to address the supply chain that he hasn't already taken?

It's not easy at all. You haven't told us how he would secure the border. You haven't provided any real action Biden could take to do a better job.
China is not against him. That is Putin's ace in the hole.
China is trying to stay on both sides...they did say mean things to Putin about not respecting national sovereignty...but also China won't participate in sanctions against Russia.
Obvi, China doesn't want to tick off either side, for varying reasons involving selling stuff to the US, Taiwan and oil.
China is watching to see if Biden rolls over like a turtle, as it will set precedence for their actions towards Taiwan.

We will not send troops to Taiwan. China has known that for a very long time.

Biden canceled the Keystone pipeline, banned drilling on federal land, and declared war on American energy production.
We warned him this would raise costs for Americans and put our national security at risk.
