As WaitNSee pointed out, St X is strong. They always seem to come together at the right time.
Mason again on the girls’ side. Loveland has a strong team and if Lakota West is healthy, they’ll be up there. The individual state champ should be the Lakota West junior.
SW Ohio seems to be weak overall this year compared to NE Ohio and in particular, Central Ohio.
We knew Davidson would have a down year as they lost their entire Varsity and are in such a stacked field. I think they will come back very strong next year as they get a new freshmen in Ryan Kaulen who recently ran 10:53 2 mile in cross this season.
Thanks Mr. Kaulen! Thomas Worthington has a 7th grader who ran 10:07, and 5 under 11:20. But middle school times don't always translate to hs success. Plus, I think you need five guys. And your son's 10:53 probably only means 17:00 next year.
I never said he was going to be amazing but I think with a solid 4 and Kaulen getting some solid Highschool training I think could be beneficial. He’s no my son by the way
After them and Mason, I would expect Springboro, Centerville, and Beavercreek to move on to State.
Moeller looked like they had a good chance earlier in the year, but they did not run well at District. Cincinnati in general (outside of perhaps to the top 2 teams in the state, lol) seems very weak this year.
It's ignorant to think that the 6th best Columbus team would be Jackson. I do believe that the 6th best Columbus team would have a decent chance of finishing as high as 2nd at Boardman, though.
I hope that you’re not solely basing that on times. Also, when looking at regional results, don’t assume that you can predict where the teams will finish based on times.
The course at Boardman is more challenging than the one at Pick North. More than once the teams from NE Ohio were underestimated based on times from the regional meet.
I’m not discounting the Central region. There’s no doubt that it is loaded and, unfortunately, a deserving team from that region will not advance to state.
I imagine not. Kilbourne crushed both Steele and Rocky River earlier in the year, and nearly beat St. Iggy at Tiffin without their #1 (Smith).
Looking at district results, they're probably the 6th best team in region 3.
Peer from Westlake did not race, Avon had 6 runners as it seemed like one of their top 5 runners was DNF, Heine from Medina did not race, Strongville with a solid race. At Boardman they will join Shaker Heights, Glen Oak, Wadsworth, St Joe's, and Chardon. It will be a battle for Obetz as 8 make it and these Region loaded with Stat ranked teams (11!)
River with a great win, Steele edging out Medina by 1 with Bowlsby and Perez with a strong finish, Avon with a surprise 5th, Revere a little back. They will be at Boardman joining Jackson, Hudson, Chardon, Hoover, Mentor, New Philadelphia, Perry, St Iggy and Boardman. 7 Teams make it to Obetz and I feel like the last 3 spots will be very close with a few teams looking from the outside by a hair. Jackson should win relatively comfortable with River, Steele, and Medina
Why do they get 7 teams and Pickerington only gets 5?? I'd bet the 6th place team (non-qualifying) there could win the Boardman regional.
Who will contend for the boys title in region 4? I see Kimmel from Tippecanoe, Trapp from St X, Liaoning from Mason and Vause from Milford.
Trapp pulls away late in the race for the win with Kimmel getting the runner-up finish. After that it's up for grabs on who has a good day vs those who try and do to much and fade.
PREDICTION: Kilbourne finishes 7th at the regional meet. Smith advances as an individual.
Miller will move on. I saw him nearly beat Gabelman and Smith a year ago at OCCs, finishing ahead of Day. Those guys have gapped him this year, but he's still very talented. Assuming he's 100%. There just happens to be a slew of sub 15:20 guys in Central OH right now.

Team prediction is probably right.
I say...
Right on. I can go with your prediction for both team order of finish as well as individual finishers.
I am curious to see how Temple does at Obetz. He has come onto the scene this year but is overshadowed by the bigger, more established names. I feel that he can still be a top 20 finisher at Obetz based on his performances thus far this season.

I'll agree with this: Trapp for the individual title in that region and Kimmel gets runner-up honors. The top Mason guy will finish third?
Mason for the team title in region 4 but by how much? How close will St. X be?

Safe bet. He dominated district 2 in a big way, running well away from the Lancaster and Coffman boys (though Bolton seemed wayyy off) in 15:07. I'd say that lands him a top 20. He, Kimmel, Snyder, and the Fairfield Union kid will lead Ohio over the next 2 years.
