Don't know him at all or his story, but looks mature. Again, don't know if it holds in this case, but I'm tired of seeing kids being labeled as middle school wonders of the world when they would be frosh or sophs if they lived somewhere else or went to an actual school.

Sean is 14. He turns 15 later this summer. He ran a season at local middle school but the training wasn't what he wanted and his family decided to coach him.

Yeah, that means he’s old in this grade. Although sometimes there are 8th graders that turn 15 in the spring.
It’s also worth considering that some top 13-year-old 8th graders are 6 feet tall, and in high school they get beat be a lot of their classmates that couldn’t beat them in 8th grade because they were so much shorter back then

In most places, you turn 14 in the calendar year you graduate 8th grade, and turn 15 in the calendar year you finish freshman year. Where I am, some kids end up graduating high school and starting college at 17.
So this "middle school" bracket creates a very uneven competition, since it's not USATF age bracketed. The middle school races end up with competitor age range from 11-12's all the way up to 15-16's.
