Hilarious. That would make a good motivational poster.
10 lifetime sub 2:07 marathons is pretty sick.
Especially when you consider he spent his first 10 prime years dominating on the track before moving to the marathon.
9 sub 27:00's
16 sub 13:00's
This guy needs to race for real sometime, not just for time. Wanjiru would me a good opponent.

Geb's marathon times, all as far as I can tell
2002 London 2:06:35,3rd (debut)
2005 Amsterdam 2:06:20,1st
2006 London 2:09.05, 9th
2006 Berlin 2:05.56, 1st
2007 London DNF
2007 Berlin 2:04.26, 1st (WR)
2008 Dubai 2:04.53, 1st
2008 Berlin 2:03.59, 1st (WR)
2009 Dubai 2:05:29, 1st
2009 Berlin 2:06:08, 1st (new WR for 30K)
2010 Dubai 2:06:09
so 11 marathons in total
all sub 2:10 (except for the 2007 london where he DNF)
9 sub 2:07 (2:06:36 to be precise)
5 sub 2:06
3 sub 2:05
1 sub 2:04
I think he is well ahead of anyone out there. Now only thing remaining is to race wanjiru and Kebede together and kick their ass and show the doubters who the emperor is!!:-)

I hear you!
Everybody talk Wanjiru, Wanjiru ... to me, he's not a contender until comes within a min. of Haile's PB.
I am sorry but 2:05:10 PB doesn't cut it for me and doesn't come close to contending a 2:03:59 PB. Meaning, Wanjiru at his best race would have been beaten by Haile
all these times -
2007 Berlin 2:04.26, 1st (WR)
2008 Dubai 2:04.53, 1st
2008 Berlin 2:03.59, 1st (WR)
2009 Dubai 2:05:29, 1st
Yes, Wanjiru is a fantastic runner - I give him that. The man to be in the Half. But at Marathon to beat Haile, I don't think so. [quote]wanna_watch_Geb wrote:
Even with his aching back, still a solid race...
Apparently he wants to run New York this fall? Is that rumor true?
I'm sorry a 2:36 last km! 2:36!! That right there made this failed world record attempt impressive in its own right.
2:36 FOR THE LAST 1KM!!!!!!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
AS THE HOUSTON MARATHON CHAMPION OF 2010 SAID, "GEBRESELASSIE IS A DIFFERENT SPECIES."
That is not surprising of an Ethiopian. And Wanjiru knows that very well. He dispatches them from gun to tape. Hopefully the rest of the Kenyan squad in the cross and 10k to the marathon can copy Wanjiru's tactics. That is the only way Kenyans can take on the Ethios.
What do you call runing a 2:36 last k to pull away? Two guys are walking around and saying "I ran 2:06 but lost." Sounds like a race to me. I guess a guy with 28 world records, many medals, and who won gold on one leg in 2000 is scared to race.
I am glad my brother's death can provide you with some humor in your day. Jerk.

Thats actually pretty funny since most are complaining that they don't know the second he crosses the FL!

It's remarkably that Wanjiru, who is an amazing stud, is only the sixth fastest Kenyan ever. I'm sure he can go faster and I don't think I'll get any argument if I say that he's better overall than those ahead of him, but still, five of his countrymen have run faster than him.
