Wow. All in one thread, Keep Stoned is giving the board a run for most pathetic poster of the month!
Unlike the Stoner, I will be clear on roughly where I stand in a given marathon: 2:4x. This means that I beat the vast, vast majority of entrants in every marathon I run. It also means that I am a complete non-factor in the competitive rankings of any major marathon I run. Like Keith and Mom, and unlike Stoned, I am comfortable with where I stand and what I hope to achieve.
I am fine with the fact that runners are finishing 30 minutes ahead of me, because I am a huge running fan. I am also fine with the fact that runners are finishing 30 minutes or even 1:30 behind me, because I am a huge running fan.
I simply can't understand the level of insecurity that people like Stoned must feel to be so uncomfortable with slower runners duking it out ***behind*** him. Stoned, do you think that Tergat, or Hall, or any elite, would ask you not to run NYC simply because you are pathetic compared to them? (Sorry, you are.) No, of course they wouldn't. But you still spit on those who you can beat, even while they probably admire you (or at least your times -- not your personality).
You must be very sad about what you're unable to accomplish in running. Poor guy. Get therapy, or a hug from your mom, or whatever it takes for you to stop taking out your insecurities on others.
