Plain and simple and as much as I admire Gudaf Tsegay, it was her fault but Chebet was going to win regardless. Beatrice is operating on a new level since her 10000m WR.
Thanks Vipey.
And again it comes down to this - if the officials had just kept their cool and handled it correctly there would have been no drama. You go behind closed doors with all camps involved, hear both sides and have an objective decision made. Instead we had a DQ flash up after 5min, Kipyegon going ballistic in the mixed zone, Battocletti with tears of joy, track and field media going insane and ultimately? All for nothing.
+1, but I would prefer more transparency!
I just finished watching a Field Hockey shootout between GER and ARG, and there was a disputed goal. The decision process was on mic, and the official gave an explanation for the no goal ruling.
Both should have been DQ'd. Tsegay for initiating contact [ which was minor initially] COMBINED WITH badly cutting off Faith after their tussle [ that was her biggest crime. [ she completely cuts in on her . Watch it again] . And Faith for- after some small contact absurdly grabbing Tsegay's arm , pulling it down and behind her back nearly yanking her down. C'mon.... that was nuts. So if someone cuts you off... you are allowed to do what in frustration/retaliation? Punch them? Trip them? C'mon now. What Fath did was absolutely a DQ'able offense.

Agreed - total fail all around. Can’t imagine the roller coaster of emotions for Battocletti. 4th…then in tears seeing she got bronze…then back to 4th.

Who would even want to keep a bronze medal from such a ridiculous DQ anyway?

Yeah that was my thought. Why tear up at a bronze only coming from a dodgy DQ of someone miles in front that you couldn't beat.
I just added in the What a joke to the title. We watched the replay. The contact just before 800m to go SHOULD NOT result in a DQ of anybody. . Seriously people.
Faith knows Tsegay is going to drift and she kind of proactively gives her shove but it wasn't that bad. Our sport is a joke. If it that happened 5 meters from the finish, yes, but 820 meters? No.
I will say this until I'm blue in the face. When you occupy a spot on the track that someone wants to take, it's on them to avoid and not create the situation where you (the runner being passed) might initiate contact. The initiation of the contact is not the single determining factor in terms of culpability.
Shush. Don't speak common sense to LR imbeciles. It's horrible for their blood pressure.

The Italian was not the victim here.
She was just going to be the beneficiary of a retarded decision by the judges.
I don't know why people keep bringing this issue up (of roller coasters).
