That race was absolutely perfect for Hoppel. Brutal withdrawal.
Yeah it was - so bizarre to actually be there, to have travelled all that way across time zones etc etc....and then scratch.
It doesn't read as that bizarre to me: Monaco is very near France, and not very far from St Moritz. I assume the plan was already to go over to Europe and stay there. He needed to make a trans-Atlantic trip at some point well before the OG 800m anyway.

As for Sedjati, like it is what it is. We've kind of seen it all now including the rocket boosters off the final turn in a sub 1.41.5 race now.
This messageboard isn't the only one noticing - the former head of sports marketing at a pretty large brand just made the comment it's time "pull him from Paris" ^^
Says it all really...
Yeah it says that if we don’t like the result, we will whine like babies.
The 800m this year is like the what happened with the 400m hurdles a few years ago, but instead of 3 guys stepping it up to a new level from the level it's been at in recent memory, its like a dozen.
From 2020 to September 2023, we saw one single 1:42 (Amos 1:42.9 in 2021)
This year, ELEVEN men have run 1:42 and FOUR have run 1:41. Absolutely staggering.

The Paris race actually jumped out to me less than this one. Attaoui and Pattison ran smart, more restrained races and are strong kickers. Yet Sedjati smoked them the last 100 nonetheless.

Concerning for Hoppel but could be something small for example Simon Koech was in Paris for the steeple last week and DNS because of illness

I'm not so sure. The one weakness I've seen in him is that he's tentative in traffic. He always just runs on the outside so he taking on more distance. It's served him well when he's so much fitter than everyone else, but now there's a lot of guys running 1:41 to 1:42-low. Compare him to Pattison, who just goes into the pack for most of the race then looks for room in the last 100
