That race from Juliette Whittaker was absolutely masterful. Felt like basically everyone in the race was shuffling around, up and down the pack, but she was basically in third/fourth the whole race, perfectly drafting off of 2 runners in front of her the whole time.
Outside of one slight clip early in the race, Roisin Willis ran pretty clean and unimpeded as well, running mostly on the rail. She was surrounded on all sides and completely protected from the wind for most of the race. She made a move around the outside on the last turn three-wide with 2 others and slingshot off of the turn really well to gun down most of the people ahead of her.
I remember Juliette Whittaker was a pretty terrible pack runner in 2022. Even in her Freshman year tbh. But she really looked like she belonged here and indoors. I remember that race at World U20s where she barely lost to that British 800m runner in the semi-finals and was super jittery, running so much unnecessary distance and shuffling up and down the pack the whole time. She lost to a person who she was way better than her because of that. Even in the final, she looked completely frazzled. The one race she looked good in was in the US U20 Championship race where she simplified it and just gunned it from the front.
J.J. Clark absolutely got them locked in on this one.
