The age + recruiting stuff is disappointing but not surprising. But it's the 5k that's loaded this year. Seems like top runners want to save their legs a bit for the Trials. Let's recognize that.
Also why wasn't there some sort of distance tracker/# of laps to go on screen during the 10k? Don't get why that wasn't up during the race.
Rowan Hamilton of Cal squeezes out a discus win with a 77.18 over Harvard's Kenneth Ikeji's 77.12 throw
LOL. Not sure what's more alarming, that poster made the mistake of putting discus even though 77m throw is NEVER happening in college (or likely ever) or that 4 people upvoted it. Get it together people.
Before Heat 3 of the 400h prelims, the broadcast showed how Caleb Ducos of Tennessee got DQ'd from the SEC final for hooking a hurdle. Am I crazy, or did he do the exact same thing on the exact same hurdle as the footage from SECs? Lol
He did! It's amazing that the SEC DQ has not changed his blatant technique flaw. Unfortunately 400 hurdlers get away with hooking hurdles due to the lack of officiating on the back straight in far too many invitationals throughout the season.
-Again, he always races that way, not just tonight
-Again, he closed faster than 5 of the 7 auto-Qs ahead of him and clocked a small PB, so he wasn’t ailing too much and may have qualified had he been in better positron
-It’s interesting to look at your previous posts under that username, all 14 of which are related to Rheinhardt Harrison, most recently from August 2020…so my calling him a dumb racer isn’t an emotional response, but your calling me a complete idiot surely is!
id·i·ot ˈi-dē-ət : a foolish or stupid person
yes…you are an idiot because you are extremely foolish in saying “he always races that way.” I know he always ran from the front in high school. However, he has been struggling with the Epstein Barr Virus for the past 15 months which has resulted in recurring mononucleosis three times. It’s a terrible illness he is facing and it disturbs me that you are so ingnorant that you don’t care to realize how he can’t even train at the same level as he did in high school because his body can’t handle it right now.
This is not a personal attack…it’s just a fact that you don’t know why he is running at the back of the pack. He does this because he isn’t fit enough to run at the front. It is people like you that give Letsrun a bad image. As his father, I know the repeated setbacks and depression he has faced over the past year because his body isn’t able to respond. This isn’t a joke. Please stop the nonsense and stop the idiotic posts against Rheinhardt!
“You are a complete idiot…nothing personal.” Nice.
It seems to me that RH is not giving himself the best chance to maximize his potential in races by hanging out off the rear of the pack. I don’t think it would be any more physically taxing for him to run a 46 second opening 300 to put himself in 2nd-6th position vs. a 47—>last. It should be obvious to everyone that as his father, you’re too close to him to stomach any criticism of his tactics in an objective way.
He’s obviously a huge talent and I want to see him excel. It’s not like I took any enjoyment from seeing him bounced in the heats. I hope he can resolve any health issues and get everything he wants out of the sport. He seems like he could already be in 3:36 shape, which for a 20 year old sophomore is pretty awesome no matter how you slice it.
Does anyone have a valid projection for the team title race after day 1 of the NCAA Championships?
I had posted this in another thread, but here you go:
I updated the TFN Men's competition prediction charts based on Day 1 actuals. TFN original top 10 team predictions: 1. Arkansas 45 2. Alabama 40 3. Texas A&M 36 4. Auburn 33 =5. Houston 32 =5. Texas Tech 32 7. Florida 31 8. Georgia 27 =9. LSU 25 =9. USC 25
Revised top 10 based on Day 1 actuals: =1. Alabama 41 (picked up +1 in 10k final) =1. Auburn 41 (picked up potential scorers in 100m, better in 4x1 than predicted, helped by other teams not advancing qualifiers) 3. Florida 39 (helped by other teams not advancing qualifiers) 4. USC 35 (picked up +6 in LJ, helped by other teams not advancing qualifiers in sprints, relays) 5. Arkansas 33 (-6 in LJ, lost -1 in 10k, no scorers in 400 or 110H) 6. Houston 32.5 7. Texas A&M 29 8. Washington 27.2 (picked up +4.2 points in PV, javelin) 9. Texas Tech 27 10. Georgia 24
Sorry, somehow my projections post got posted twice.
Now, I figured Auburn could now be favored to win the 4x1 title after Day 1 as they had the fastest semi time and beat LSU head-to-head in their semi. TFN originally predicted LSU to win the 4x1 and Auburn 4th, but since South Florida got DQed, Auburn would then be moved up to 3rd. So if we follow TFN's original placement while removing the non-advancers in the 4x1, it would be LSU-Houston-Auburn (not Auburn-LSU-Houston like I originally scored based on Day 1 results), so the final team scores would be adjusted to the following: 1. Alabama, 41 (previously tied with Auburn)
2. Florida, 39 (previously 3rd)
3. Auburn, 37 (previously tied with Alabama)
4. USC, 35
5. Houston, 34.5 (previously 6th)
6. Arkansas, 33 (previously 5th)
7. Texas A&M, 29
8. Washington, 27.2

Every time I watch Christopher Williams of Georgia finish a race. All the theories about form is vanished. He wins but his form is very unorthodox. Certainly a finishing form that can’t be coached. Has to be his natural movement to keep driving forward but he wins.

Leo Neugebauer just set the World Decathlon Best in the Discus with a throw of 57.70m. This is the first time anyone has ever scored over 1000 points in the Discus during a Decathlon competition. 1032 points. He is now at 6646 points after 7 events. 949 points per event. If he gets equivalent marks to his personal bests in the last three events, he can get 9009 points.
