Yeah, I can see that, but honestly I think Valby was going to win no matter what and the pace probably helped Markezich ensure 2nd. I guess she also could have thought to test Valby the day after a fast 5k.
Notre Dame women wound up 10th but they were only 4 points out of 5th, 7 points out of 3rd. There are occasions in this meet when athletes hedge their bets for the sake of sewing up points.
I’m shocked how close Florida got to Arkansas. The latter’s DQ in the 4x400m obviously hurt. Goes to show it’s not over until it’s over.

That is a lot of drop outs. Unless someone is sick or injured, (or falls), I am not a fan of no shows from an NCAA final. Other runners could have taken the spot.
Is pacing like that for a teammate legit at a championship final?
I’ll have to watch the replay, but the splits seem to indicate there was not much if any benefit, with Olemoimoi there anyway. If Markezich tried to slow it down even more than she did, Valby would probably have gone around sooner, no?

I want to like Michaela Rose but her post race interviews are same level as Sydney's. That's why Whitakers victory was the highlight of the day. We actually got to hear about the race.

One year ago Lance Harter retired.
Arkansas did get 5 points in the DMR. That was the difference between 1st and 2nd.
Florida and Arkansas have switched places. Florida now gets over half their points from distance.
