When was the last time they choked? Certainly wasn't on Saturday. Where did you finish?
Ahead of you, dbag
I think we're all wondering where you placed relative to the Kilbourne guys. Do you have the stones to put your name and time down? I mean, you're the one calling the team that won the preview meet chokers.
I kinda doubt you beat Smith. And probably not Miller or Hawkins. So... name? Time? Kilbourne's 7th man beat every other teams 5th man, expect Rocky Rover and Davidson (finished together), so I'm doubting it went well for you.
Is it safe to assume Kilbourne is a top 5 team? Are they the favorite in region 3?
I don’t see why not. Kilbourne graduated only their #5, and all teams that finished ahead of them at region 3 lost at least a couple of key runners
Replying to both of these. Kilbourne certainly has the tools to to be in the conversation for number 1 in region 3. They showed that on Saturday and anyone doubting and hating on them at this point is either trolling or just doesn't know what they are talking about. Sure, they have reliability issues due to the god awful coaching staff on board, but the athletes have shown that they can preform regardless. HOWEVER, I don't think people are saying Dublin Jerome's name enough. Coffman, Lancaster, and Orange are all solid squads, but Jerome showed us in track that they are a force to be reckoned with. Only they turned a sophomore(Guerrera) who struggled to break 5 and 17 in 2022, into a 9:10 2 miler. And only they turned a senior(Razor) who couldn't make it to the XC state meet on his own and didn't even have a track season the year before, into a 4:09 miler. This season, they will likely have the best 1-2 combo in the state with Ricchiuti and Guerrera(Kilbourne could challenge them but on paper Jerome is slightly better), and they have a slew of guys who are all capable of running well into the 16s with Khadkikar, Sudal, Tyler, and Ishida. Could Kilbourne beat them when the postseason rolls around? Yes, it's very possible. But Dublin Jerome is the favorite. If you wanna put Kilbourne 2nd in region 3, go for it. I personally think their ceiling is higher than the other schools I mentioned and I would rank them 2nd myself. But if you're putting anyone else besides Jerome in the top spot then I heavily disagree as someone who has a big Kilbourne bias. I guess we'll see what happens this weekend.
Edit: It appears Jerome is not entered in the Pick North meet at the moment. Still a day left so it could change. We'll still get to see Kilbourne face Coffman amongst others

Interesting. Is he hurt? Any information? I saw that he didn't run the Fleet Feet race either, but that the rest of their varsity did. I just assumed Ben might be taking the meet off because of a long track season. I suppose that could still be true...

I suppose he could be hurt but I think it’s more likely he’s just not racing this early into the season like you said

North wins the race WITHOUT Gabelman, packing 5 guys from 9-31st. They looked great. Kilbourne had a good day, but not a great day and North Capitalized. Coffman is a good squad, but from what they showed us today it doesn’t appear that they are top 3 in the region for the time being. Their pack of 4:25-4:35 guys that everyone was talking about wasn’t as tight today, North might as well have been a better version of Coffman, and they didn’t even have Gabelman today. We’ll see what North has to offer down the road, the last 2 years their postseason has been subpar, their guys just can’t seem to find the times that they run early season. I’d love to see them finally make states as team though and they certainly look like they could do that today. Next week should be fun with Kilbourne and North facing off again.
Using Solon as a common opponent, Kilbourne (and therefore also Westerville North and Coffman) match up quite well with these guys. Kilbourne put 8 guys ahead of Solon's 4th and 5th at the preview meet, just like Jackson - with similar gaps. And I dont think either Ilg or Zuckett are ahead of Smith.
Given that... Westerville North should probably be ranked #2 or #3 behind Mason ans St X.

Yeah even though Mason graduated 4 varsity guys, I think they can 3-peat at state. They return 9 guys under 17 for 5k.
