Why do I root so hard against Katir. I should get over it.
It was a poor race for Grant. No excuses, it wasn’t like he got stuck in a 7:23 race and fell off. He came through in around 3:59 and couldn’t hold it.
If I had to guess what Girma will do after this - 3k steeple world record and world title, and then focus on 5k? This guy has 12:3x potential with a 7:23....
Not sure I owe THOUGHTSLEADER an apology but I was way wrong on my predictions for Katir and Fisher in this race.
Took a big L in my predictions game, for sure. Both of us get a major W in our seemingly never-ending argument that low-7:20s isn’t as godly as the top lists would have you believe.

It is possible that Grant cannot race as well without a Woody in training.

Ethiopia 5,000 competition is tough, and he trains with Barega. I know we don’t like it but maybe Ethiopia *should* take control and limit doubles and competitions. Last year on the men’s side was a complete disaster outside of their marathon guys and Girma.

Was it a disaster because of the doubles or because many of the Ethiopians peaked incorrectly? Did the womens side have the same issue? Genuine questions. I wasn't paying attention to this topic last year.

I’m joking! I do follow Katir pretty closely. He’s actually quite transparent despite everyone’s suspicions of him. He explains his own struggles and bad races. Last year was a serious of stumbles until a good showing at Spanish Champs turning it around. This winter has been so good I suspected he was gonna be right there with Girma.

They said the same thing about Wale after his 7:24
