WR still a possibility.
I think Hug Marcel is going to win this without much competition.
Hai
He hit 57:56 in Berlin 2018, 3 seconds faster, but slowing pace ensures WR is gone. Kipsang's CR will be consolation for whoever can hold on.
Half way in 1:01:03
1:01:03 at half way.

I know it's apples and oranges (especially with course differences), but interesting to note that Sara Hall's 49:17 15K split would have tied Emily Durgin in 2nd at Gate River.
i created a tracking page here:
It's early, but Geremew looks a little more laborious than usual.
First pacer down.

Not surprised. 61- minute half.
And isn't it the 2021 Tokyo Marathon? I don't have to know mandarin Chinese or even Japanese to see 2021. It's a year off, is this a recording of last year when Kipchoge won?
When will Kipchoge make his move? 30k like the Olympics? Or maybe 35k? Everybody looks laborious compared to Kipchoge. Jonathan Korir was able to keep up with Kipchoge at the airport marathon until late.
Stream on Facebook Page “Athletic Kenya” still working good.
Kind of cool there is a Nike pacer and an Adidas pacer left. Can't remember other majors having mixed pacers like that. I would have figured Tokyo as an Asics race anyway.

Jonathan Gault wrote about that in his preview:
The 2022 World Marathon Majors season kicks off on Sunday (Saturday
night in the US) with the Tokyo Marathon, and it’s going to be a special
one. For starters, it will be the first Tokyo Marathon in two years, as
the 2021 edition was cancelled due to COVID (technically, race
organizers are saying Sunday’s race is the 2021 edition and the 2022 edition has been cancelled, and yes, that makes no sense).
Why don't they just say they cancelled 2021 and have 2022 is anybody's guess.
English commentating too, which is a plus
Wonder what's Haruki Murakami's best Tokyo 'Thon time? Assuming he has run this race.
Hai
