[Y]ou can put together a narrative of ... whatever hypothetical nonsense is required for fit the outcome.
but that doesnt mean the such narratives are 'fundamentally inconsistent' with reality.
[P]resenting it as what happened is just a conspiracy theorists idea of heaven.
This is a good explanation of how conspiracy theories get going:
-Take a desired outcome,
-cherry-pick extremely unlikely evidence and occurrences,
-line them up precisely so the holes match,
-present it as reality,
-ignore the fact that your string of evidence includes happenings that are likely only in 1 in 1,000, plus 1 in 100, plus 1 in 10,000, plus 1 in 10 (equals 1 in 10 billion likelihood you are wrong, because math), and
-scream that anyone who doesn't see the 'truth' is an ignorant dupe and, ironically, get actual ignorant dupes to agree with you.
