And Mitch today. Lordy I know this will lead to nothing but it is great to see right Wingers push back against the lies.
Mitch McConnell breaks with RNC on Jan. 6: "We all were here. We saw what happened. It was a violent insurrection for the purpose of trying to prevent the peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately certified election, from one administration to the next. That's what it was."
But anytime these Rs come out and say something against other Rs they risk underperforming in the election cycle. Clearly some of them think the RNC did some damage with their assessment of Jan 6. This is simply some of them assuring people that the party hasn't fallen off the deep end (even though it has). It keeps the base in tact.
But take a step back and think about what trump was able to do in a few years. He pretty much took full control of the RNC. You have to follow the money trail. The RNC is the political apparatus that more or less determines which Rs to prop up. They saw the influence TFG had on the base, and the potential to scam those mouth breathers. That is what they answer to, so they answer to TFG. He is by far the biggest single determinant of whether an R candidate gets elected. He controls the money faucet.
