Not sure how Ricchuiti gets 2nd at state since McMahon locked him down at MSU
Umm, yeah . . . no.
Just like the 2023 track season--in an earlier meet Gabelman actually beat Ackley in the 1600m. I correctly predicted that Ackley would rebound from that and not let Gabelman beat him again in the 1600m; that is exactly what happened.
The same thing here: Ricchiuti won't lose to McMahon again in cross country this season.
PREDICTION: Gabelman finishes first at Obetz. Ricchiuti will finish in a close second. McMahon won't even finish in the top five at Obetz. At best, he'll finish somewhere in positions 8 to 15.
I wonder if Weston Day is going to run in college. I wonder where he would go.
Committed to Ohio St
The Ohio State men get decent talent from instate but always struggle a bit. They were beaten by Youngstown State at TAMU yesterday. I don't get it. Ohio St should have the best men's team in the state every year. At least the guys are going to a good school.
The women have improved a lot and got 4th yesterday. Addie Engel is having another solid year.
After not having a XC team for a few years, Akron looks to be the best team in the state now. They're even ranked 7th in the Great Lakes in the most recent USTFCCCA poll. They have gotten some help from three Kenyan guys, though.
It would be nice to see Weston finish in the top ten at Obetz and then in the top eight in the 3200m in Columbus in June. I think he is capable of meeting these marks.
Perhaps. But there's no way Scioto gets to Obetz. Maybe some other year...
6 of the top 9 teams in Ohio are from that region (according to polls), and there is still one other team ranked ahead - Liberty - and two more right behind them, Olentangy and Pick North.
It'd take a miracle for them to make it. Unless Owen K is ready to run with Saketh R, Steven Miller, Caden Ozbun, and Michael Dellasanta. And Weston is ready to run with Ben, Sam, & Ryan. Same for your 3-4-5, running with all of those teams' 3-4-5.....
Not happening.
Not even including Davidson either who I’m sure will have a crazy peak at the end of the year
But still won’t make the state meet. Maybe next year (they only have one senior), but not this year. They are in a very stacked section, which is kind of ridiculous in some ways
Pretty dominating performance by the Mason guys. Not a surprise. They did have a 23 second 3 to 4 gap and a 20 second 4 to 5 gap so they'll need to tighten up a bit.
The girls race between Mason & Lakota West should be close.

The 3-4 gap on the team was actually 12 seconds. Yes they do need to tighten the 4-5 gap. Their 5th guy today was a freshman. 6th guy might be Jerry Xu’s brother
Does anyone else think that the new way Finish Timing has their online results sucks since they teamed up with MileSplit? The old format when they were just on the Finish Timing website was much better.
Mason ended up with 19 points even though the 3 to 5 was not tight.

Yeah, I see that now. When I first looked I thought it was 23 seconds. Regardless, they're still the favorites to win the state meet but their back end was stronger the past few years. They're not as deep this year. Jackson could potentially beat them.
Evelyn Prodoehl, the Lakota West junior, won in 16:59. She would have been 12th in the boys race. I don't see how Peer can beat her for the state title.
Mason girls won though I did not see final score. It seems like Lakota West had a few not running.
