Eisenhart course is running like the Celtic Clash. No way it's a full 5k. Same with the middle school races. It's so blatantly obvious what these course designers are doing.
The short courses are what they are. Same for the “track on grass” courses.
That said, too much emphasis is out on times. The focus should be on place.
My point exactly. And yet... all these short courses.
If a course is short or fast due to being pancake flat, I personally have no issue with it. The kids just need to put the time in perspective and take it for what it is. A lot of that is on the coaches that might not temper the enthusiasm of the athletes and lets them believe that a 16:00 on a 3 mile course that is pancake flat is as good as a 16:00 on a challenging course that is a true 5k.
What I mention here is the same reason I’m not in favor of schools keeping XC “records” unless multiple lists of records are kept for each course they might commonly run on.
Luckily everyone runs the same course for the state meet.
The ole "first two miles tempoing, and then let loose" ?
You guys will get a kick out of this. 2 of Kilbourne’s varsity ran Eisenhart, 1 of whom was ordered to race the first mile, and then come to a complete stop to wait for the first few JV runners to catch up, and finish the race with them.

Ha, funny strategy! I was worried about Kilbourne but now they’ve been outclassed by Coffman. Didn’t see that coming.
You are not a Westerville North Almuni. You are an athlete from Dublin Coffman. Every one of your posts mentions how good Coffman is when they aren’t even being talked about. You rarely even mention Westerville North. Just stop.

Not the case! But you have to respect the teams that beat you. I’d love a state title for North, but the loss to Coffman had tempered my expectations.
The coaches pool makes no sense. None of the top teams ran their varsity the past weekend, but the rankings still changed. Last week, coming of a loss to Coffman by ~20 points, two people ranked North 1. This week, after no new results Mason gets all 12 #1 votes.
