I see...thanks for the info.
Should be exciting to see how things shake out! I cant wait for the season to start and we can get our first glimpse as to what we can start to expect this year in SUNYAC cross-country.

Looking at the regional rankings is pretty interesting. I agree with the top 4, those teams are going to be very strong and are returning a lot of athletes. I think cortland will finish 3rd and geneseo 4th though. Cortland has a really young but talented team. After that it is impossible to tell at this point where teams are going to fit in. I see SLU bouncing back and possibly taking the 5 spot. They return their top two who had awful performances last year at regionals and they have a decent recruiting class for the first time in a couple years. RIT and UR are going to be strong again though.
Good point about St. Lawrence. They are a much better team than what they showed at Regionals and States last year. Their recruiting class sounds studly and once their newbies learn how to run an 8K race, the Saints will once again establish themselves near the top of the Altantic Regional Rankings.
Brockport is a gonna be a team to watch out for this year. They are my darkhorse to really shake up the rankings and be a sleeper come the big races.
an old high school teammate of mine who runs for NYU IM'd me tonight, and told me they just found out about a transfer's paperwork coming through. Guess the guy's pretty good, and they expect him to be in their top 4-5???
anyone know anything about this guy, AR Preview didnt mention this.
bummmmppppppp
I gotta say that I am happy to see SLU getting tossed around in the mix a little. As a former runner I feel that they did not run up to their potential last year or the year before that. I think they can get up in the top 5 this year with their returners (donahoe-2nd at states, gaudette, ostler) and a good recruiting class. Irregardless, the teams at the top of the region have a lot of depth and are going to put on a great show at regionals. Hopefully more teams than NYU, geneseo, and TCNJ show up, unlike last year.
Irregardless is not a word.
Yo, I heard Cortland is coached by a woman...They'll never win! Mwaahahahaha
yo that post is messed up; in this world anyone can anything; my coach does not let his "preference" affect his coaching
now, the atlantic region is clearly the region with the most depth in the country. Several teams have the capabilty to make a run for the team title. NYU, TCNJ, and SUNY Geneseo. Cortland is def not in the run cuz of their coach...she's a girl. On a side note I predict the individual race will pan out as follows:
1. Ricky Bobby
2. The Stay Puft Marshmallow man
3. Spongebob Squarepants
4. Zorro
5. Scooby Doo
I CANT WAIT FOR REGIONALS! SEE YOU ALL IN NOVEMBER
Glad to hear you'll be coming to watch, cheer loud.
while our region should be pretty good, it will take alot for one of our top teams to be top 3 at ncaa's. nyu might have a shot if they can get two strong front runners, TCNJ also, though they havent had any show like abdallah has. Geneseo has a pack, but no one that far up, a last years ncaa showed, which killed them.
So, how did things go around the region today and at Buffalo State? Any results or updates?
Order of finish .... unofficial at this point of course was ...
1. Geneseo
2. Malone
3. Hurricane Ernesto
for both mens and womens teams
Individually, IUP had both the mens and womens race winners, the top guys finished in around 25:20 and Geneseo produced an excellent early showing with at least 5 under 26. The SUNY G girls also dominated the race and looked very deep as usual. Brockport men appeared to be doing a team tempo run as they were all together and never really in contention throughout the race
Results are up on the Buff State page:

Was this course a legit 8k? If so, those are nasty times for Geneseo (all under 26), especially with the Ernesto going through. I dont even recognize half of Geneseo's top 7... are they all freshmen?
I was wondering if they changed the course. Granted it was wet and rainy instead of baking hot, but still... The times for this year are waaaaay faster than they ever have been before. Did the course get changed or something? Or was everybody just that much faster this year?
I heard a story about the guys having to jump a gator that crashed or something? Anyone know what happened?
The course seemed short and they made mutiple changes to it because of the weather.
The wind was absolutely brutal and yes the entire field have to jump a gator that was leading the race because it couldnt fit across a bridge back in the woods.
Geneseo was VERY impressive and definitely made a bit of a statement yesterday for those that thought there was going to be a chink in their armor this year.
really kinda hard to say what kind of statement they made, since you cant compare it to anything from past years. With the bad weather, and all the course changes, it might have been 4.7 maybe??? not exactly beating a stellar field, especially if brockport was just running a workout. Wish I had gone over, would have liked to see the whole "gator" thing.
I know the two guys who finished 1-2, and they are tough. Both of those guys are sub 30 10k guys in the making. Obviously they aren't at peak right now, but anyone who hangs with them is worthy of some respect.
As far as i could tell, this was the course
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=410040
At the sharp left hand turn just after the 4 mile mark, medina and weiss lost about 10 seconds because there were no markings and no official to point them in the right direction, i would say they lost about 10 seconds, but neither gained an advantage and it didnt effect the outcome of the race .... the course is almost the same as last years, just a few minor changes .... also the weather was much better this year, 50s rainy and windy instead of 90s with 95% humidity and the grass this year was almost golf course short instead of ankle deep so that might have made the biggest difference ... looks like a legit 8k course however
