am i being weird or does knighton look a bit pudgy (for a 200m runner)
I was worried before he became a pro that he'd go into the NCAA system and put on too much muscle. But now it looks like he's just never seen a weight room.
he just looked pretty darn good, would have been the first ever under 20 seconds in the first round just now if kenny hadnt beaten him to it 5 minutes ago lol
Kenneth Rooks continues to be just an excellent competitor. Part of that has to just be fitness, but I also noticed a few key moves to put himself where he needed to be, and good water jumps where he needed them. I think he's going to do something impressive in the final. Not sure I have him for top 3, but it doesn't feel impossible.
Impossible?, no. But he just came .36 seconds from not advancing in, by far, the slowest heat. Rooting for him tho.
Really? The only guy who beat him in his heat was Girma. The fact that it was the slowest heat doesn’t matter at all. He ran his last K in ~2:34.7.
Yeah you're right, rewatching the final 100. Canadian dude moved into lane 2 to try to get a lane to pick off Rooks (wasn't going to happen) and then the Tunisia moved out wide into lane 2 as a result. This left Geordie with no choice but to deaccelerate and then reaccelerate after the jump. Left it too late and had little room to have a full kick without deaccelerating to navigate around traffic. Lots of less margin for error when kicking on the home stretch in steeple.
Good to see that Lyles is conserving his energy well throughout the rounds. I think that that mistake cost him a fast time in the 200 for both 2023 world and 2024 usas
