You wonder why runners are better today? Foster looks like a broken old man and he ran 13:00 back in the day. They were so physically weak, just pounding out miles. Compared to Jakob’s core strength, etc.
Damn lots of downvotes lolz. Jakob femboys are sensitive.. look, if he was in 5K WR shape he'd have gone for it already. And I actually think he can eventually do it - he's just not there yet.
He can't try all WR in a single season.
Last season he already tried and succeeded in the 2miles and 2000m. This season he comes back from injury and there are European championships and OG.
The fact that he didn't try doesn't mean he can't. We know since his 2miles that he can beat the 3000m WR but he has not tried yet.
I believe Gebriwhet, Kejelcha, Aregawi, Kiplimo and Cheptegei can run 12:35 or better in a WR attempt. I also believe Jakob is at least as good if not better than those guys in the 5000m. It's a matter of time.
Not to take away the fact that he absolutely has been boss in 1500-5k (with exception of the WC 1500 of course), but 2mile and 2k are distances that don't matter. Bruh, you do know he would need to run a scorching pace for another 3k to get the 5K WR. That aint no joke and no, he doesn't have the same fitness over the distance as those guys. Not yet.
That impale31 you are talking about don't even care about runners take make the days of his country (Habz, Morhad Amdouni). Did you ever see him posting in a thread related to these runners? No. His idole is Jakob.
And their Media (glacial is the least to say, L'équipe) were crowning Bubka, Ben Johnson and Flo-Jo). In the time were more wise worldwide medias like "Tracks and News" were crowning Aouita 2 times Athlete of The Year (1985, 1987).
Add to that his attempts to despise some distances (3000m SC) for obvious reasons.
L'équipe crowned Ben Johnson and Flo-Jo as the athletes of the year.
I can congratulate them.

You show your ignorance again. The only 1500 he ran was in the Tokyo Olympics. He was the top miler of his era with the best kick. In '63 he destroyed the American record while burying the best milers in the country - like Beatty, Grelle and Weissiger - with his kick. But I understand you know nothing of anything before the 21st century.
What do you mean again? But yes, not saying he had a bad kick, it’s just compareable to Ingebrigtsens 5k kick since the race was so slow and the pace you kick from is way slower. Much bigger difference than when kicking in the sub 3.30 races of today where the top speed before the kick is already high.
The top speed before the kick is not the same in different eras. If they were times would not have gotten faster.

The time he is unlikely to get is the 5k world record.

Exactly! Finally we agree. So now you can appreciate how the kick is (obviously) larger from Snell since he is starting the kick from a slower top speed, just as Jakob in the 5k races.

You miss the point again. A slower time in an earlier era is relatively the same effort-wise as for runners in a later era.
