You need to learn to follow an argument. It wasn't me who suggested that kind of improvement due to the new shoes - it came from rekrunner, who was purporting to apply a measure estimated by Nick Willis. I don't happen to agree with it. The new shoes might add a fraction of a second over the mile at the top of the sport. But doping will add several seconds. That is why records and times are falling today like confetti - doping that isn't being detected.
That's from you, imby:
If Willis is correct that means the 1500 record is actually worth 3:23x in the new spikes - and the mile record sub-3:40. (Of course Willis doesn't say that). That means these records were doped beyond our comprehension (not to mention Komen's records and those who ran close like Ngeny, Lagat and Kiprop). Only a lunatic would believe 3:23x and 3:40 respectively could be clean.
You use this 2+ seconds improvement in the 1500m (even bigger for the Mile - you or your doped friend (according to you) might know why) as part of your "argumentation" - even when you don't think the shoes give such an improvement.
Typical behaviour of a notorious liar (many examples) which you are.
You are seriously stupid. My comment above was based on a claim from rekrunner about the effect of the new shoes, using a measure he said came from Nick Willis, of 2 seconds improvement for 1200m. I was showing what must follow from that argument. But clearly following an argument is beyond you.
Actually he/she is right. You live in the past and hate the present. And you never show any knowledge or wisdom here. You show anger and bitterness.
Another unpleasant trait of some old people is that they think since they have been here for a while, they know it all / better. In reality a lot of people just stay average or even below average for a long time and that's it.
Also, Armstronglivs, there is no such thing as wisdom. Only different perspectives and approaches to life. What was right for one person long time ago might not be right for another person now. Therefore it is wrong to measure everything and everyone by the same standards.
Therefore it also makes no sense to compare Jim Ryun to Jakob Ingebrigtsen. It only causes a hypothetical argument along the lines "Batman vs. Superman". Different times, different circumstances, different people.
There is no such thing as wisdom to he who never achieves it.
"Of course, another necessary conclusion that follows from the conversion of El G's records because of the new shoes is that Jakob is not in the same class - and nor will he ever be. He won't ever run 3:23 for the 1500 or 3:40 for the mile. His fans won't be pleased to hear that."
For putting down your most beloved runner, using a "fact" which you think is not true seems appropriate to you. To just call you a liar is friendly.
Which positive impact have you ever had in this forum?
You really embarrass yourself. The claim that the new shoes effectively improve performances by 3 seconds over 1500/mile came from rekrunner, not me. It therefore follows that the present world records will be worth 3:23 and 3:40 respectively, allowing for the claimed effect of the new shoes. It is beyond your very humble intellectual capacity to understand that - or see that Jakob will never accomplish those times, new shoes regardless.

Corporate loves it because track is a declining sport and world records add hype and bring attention.
But in reality this is damaging. WRs are supposed to be once every few years when a once in a lifetime athlete makes a all-time effort under perfect conditions. Ten bros coming within a meter or two of Alan Webb's American mile record all in one heat? Tarnishing the lore of what it means to set a record and to run sub 3:50 in general.
This is like elite swimming with the swim suits all over again.
I hate to break it to you, but Webb's mile record was never that great. It converts to 3:29. The only reason nobody runs that fast is because the mile is an off-event that's rarely run.
It's amazing that Webb's record stood that long and even more amazing that it was the fastest mile ran within about a 20 year span.
Like I've said before, the new spikes don't do a whole lot just slipping them on and going out to race, but they make it much easier to recover and train in them.
To test that theory a couple weeks ago, I took my out of shape self to the track to run a mile time trial in Dragonflies. 5:12, then this past weekend, I ran 5:09 in Victory 2s. Same track, similar conditions, only difference was that afterwards and for 2 days, I could barley walk because my calves were on fire.
Now for Vapor Flys and road shoes, that is a much bigger advantage, especially for marathon. This is partially because before 2018, there was never really a shoe built for the marathon. You either went with a racer and destroyed your legs or a lightweight trainer and run 2-3 minutes slower. Now the Vaporflys brought the best of both worlds (Actually the Hoka Clifton 1s were the ground breaker IMO, but there shoes just got worse over time).
3 seconds in the 1500m because of the shoes? Havn't you stated that the improvement is almost nothing (or 1 second at most)?

Technically I said 2.5-2.7 seconds.
But how would you know better than elite athletes, one with a decades long career of breaking 4 minute miles? Remind us again, what is your best mile time clean and what is your best mile time on drugs? Surely you have personal experience to be so confident.
According to a recent Guardian article from Sean Ingle titled "Super spikes are causing a seismic shift – so why won't athletes admit it?":
"(Nick) Willis reckons the new spike technology, which is powered by a superlight and highly responsive Pebax material, is worth between one to three seconds a mile, depending whether or not someone is a "high responder". Another Olympian I spoke to, who wanted to remain anonymous, put the advantage at two to four seconds. Either way, it amounts to a change as seismic as when cinder tracks became synthetic."
Whether that applies to El G depends on whether we was a "high responder". It doesn't necessarily follow that El G would run 3:23 or 3:40.
Note that neither Sean Ingle, nor Nick Willis, nor any anonymous Olympian I'm aware of are attributing these kinds of recent times to a new kind of undetectable drug. That is purely your own invention, doubling down on decades of unproven myths you cannot substantiate.

It's not from you, dumbo. You don't think it's true, dumbo. You use it as part of your argumentation, that Ingebrigtsen is not a top runner, duuumbo.
Ingebrigtsen clearly has already surpassed your wet-dream-subject Ron Clarke. Clarke: age 21: did not qualify for the CG age 23: did not qualify for the OG age 25: 2nd and a dnf at the CG age 27: 3rd and 9th and 9th at the OG age 29: 2nd, 2nd and a dnf at the CG age 31: 6th and 5th at the OG age 33: 2nd and 5th at the CG 1st world record at age 26
BEFORE the age of 23, Ingebrigtsen has 1 Gold at the OG, 2 Golds and 2 Silvers at the World champs and 17 Golds at the European champs (including Juniors) (try to visualize this number with your fingers, dumbo - see? 1 hand is not enough) 3 world records

Can't achieve what doesn't exist. Whatever knowledge / experience you think you have is very dated and stiff. I wouldn't call it wisdom, I'd call it stubborness. Even your understanding of "wisdom" is musty.
The only "wisdom" that's worth achieving is an ability to solve problems quickly with most fluid approaches. And that's not you, man. Not at all.

Kiptum has clearly found the most fluid approach. It's called EPO.
Running is going through its 90s cycling era. All doped up to their eyeballs.
Looking at Chicago results I was thinking who is the first non doper across the line.
I'm going to go with the Japanese guy who was in 10th in the mixed category of non dopers and dopers. That's a bit of a wild guess though he may be 3rd or so in the clean event.
delusional. you are like the type of people who hinder progress because you think it makes everyone else look bad. would hate to be your friend because as soon as my income triples yours, you would get mad jealous.
f*ck off boomer.
alan webb's record is still impressive.
a bunch of runners doing 3:47/48 in one heat do not diminish the level of difficulty in physically running a 3:46 mile.

And you're a Hamas terrorist. You see how easy it is to baselessly smear people?
