thanks for your time in commenting. Those were some good suggestions.
I experienced the late 80's shoe demise (it pretty much ending my running career as it took me about 15 years to finally find that I could train in racing shoes). At first they made my calves sore, but I adapted. Eventually getting to where I could run up to 30 miles in the Zoom Streaks with no problems.
I tried Vibram five fingers - did not like them.
I tried running barefoot (and do this, but only indoor, where I have access to tumbling mats).
I tried taping the insole of the shoe to my foot about 10 years ago - and it actually worked ok. I did this on grass only...but maybe it is time to try to take it to the roads.
To Kvothe:
the lt 4 is the shoe i have saved as my last pair for racing. I liked them but they don't seem to last very long. Just did a tempo in an old pair last night and they only have maybe 250 miles on them - and they are just about done.
the Nike dualist was the first shoe that really did it for me back in the 80's. As soon as I started racing in them, I got fast. Nothing since them has been as good.
also I have recently tried the Nike Zoom Rival - for some reason the way the arch hit my foot feels terrible. I am wondering if the Rival Waffle 6 will do the same thing - because it look like the same shoe to me.
trying to order the kilkenny right now.
