Initially, this thread was entitled "UCLA track coach, Sean Brosnan, Fired for NCAA violations" but we changed it as Brosnan told us he was simply not renewed for next year.
Brosnan was caught lying. He posted an instagram story that clearly showed he was coaching the Young brothers. He then deleted it and reposted something that was less obvious about him coaching the youngs.
There are rules that a college coach can coach club athletes within a certain radius. But there were no legit clubs that the Youngs ran for and obviously Brosnan was not named an official coach of any club. He tried to create his own club that conveniently only included the Youngs, and was not open to any and all athletes within a 50 mile radius regardless of of talent or ability.
I spoke to Brosnan months about about the Youngs. He openly told me he would be coaching them and had it approved and it wans't an NCAA violation. WHy in the world wouldn't he be allowed to coach the Newbury Park track club with the youngs on it, particularly when they were already comitted to Stanford?
Now I told him the kids on UCLA may not like it. Hell if I was his boss at UCLA, I wouldn't want him to do it. But that's another story. i'm 99% certain it was all approved. He didn't try to hide the fact he was coaching them.
HE did say today that someone photoshopped an instagram post and reported it to the NCAA but I didn't really understand that. But who cares. We are going to get upset that he continued to coach the guys he coached last year when his wife is the head coach? Find something else to faux outraged about.
Rojo - why so much reliance on what Brosnan is telling you? Do some digging, beginning at UCLA, and see if you can find something beyond a “no reason” firing of a coach who helped a few poached athletes get new PRs.
UCLA is not renewing a contract after 1 year. That seems to mean he had a 1 year deal which signals that UCLA was being careful with a known risk.
i'm not an expert on college coaching throughout the u.s., but i think it's pretty standard for every x-c/t&f coach to have only a one year contract--certainly at ucla that's been the case for everyone since bob larsen (and i'm guessing his assistants from art venegas to john smith were only getting 1 year contracts); i'm also guessing there are very few x-c/t&f coaches in the ncaa who have the leverage to sign mulit-year contracts--this ain't football or basketball...

Because it was 11:00 pm on a Sunday. You want me to get a comment from UCLA at this hour? Colleges never comment anyways.
I know plenty of people who don't believe his denials. they've been posting in the LRC forum for months.
This post was edited 1 minute after it was posted.
He couldn't get the the Youngs or the Shalman's to come to UCLA.....He failed
Yeah this is a great point. UCLA maybe have hired him because they thought he was a package deal. Then they saw his package and the honeymoon was over.

that's my story and i'm sticking to it,
cush
Fair enough. But maybe that just reflects the known risks across the industry when it comes to assistant coaches.

My bad. I mistook blogposting as journalism. Totally unreasonable on my part. Can you supplement your investigation with a TikTok dance later tonight?
Or maybe vin lananna is a psycho that likes to make hell for a girl who just wanted to go home after a someone was vandalizing her house in Charlottesville. Listen to her podcast for peet sake.

Rojo did his due diligence wither Bronsan was telling the truth or 100% lying and spinning his way out of this 🤣.
Sean thought he was bigger than the moment. It's no secret he had his wife calling parents of said recruits before they put themselves in the transfer portal who were originally from California.
Plenty of coaches called this out and luckily the director has a conscience and realized this wasn't a good idea to continue this.
Sean can play victim all he wants. In the end....he played with fire and got burned! College coaches who have morals and played by the rules are celebrating this!

It’s wierd. Like ever since this dude was hired he has had special treatment. Posts deleted that were much more tame than others regarding other coache- and even this it’s like “he was let go because the admins didn’t like his coaching style”
thats Horse poopie. Admins don’t fire low level assistants on teams that are low level tiered sports. Either admit this is your buddy and you’re partial or be honest to everyone

Even the new title of the thread was changed to “confirmed SB won’t return in year two” gtfoh he was FIRED post should say “LRC confirmed SB fired and Won’t return”

Elaborate - what’d Lananna do to Mia? She had great success at UVA. He didn’t vandalize that house. Margot Appleton lived in the exact same house and she just hitched up her britches and kicked ass. Mia chose to leave, free world, and nobody is questioning her eligibility as a transfer. She is no victim, and may she thrive. But there is no evidence that anybody but Brosnan navigated his ouster from UCLA.
