Not sure of the significance but at the Spider Open, for Virginia, Timm (a transfer from Princeton) and Bushee (a freshman) beat Atkinson and Workman who were 46 and 65 at Nationals last year. Appelton, David (another freshman) and Menninger did not run. Bushee was 9:30 for 3000 in hs and Timm was 4:36 miler at Princeton.
Also of note Oregon does not list any of the transfers on their roster - no Frias, McDonnell or Barnett and also no Patterson?? Is this accurate as I expected at the least to see Patterson listed.
NAU had 7 women break 15 minutes on the 2.6 mile course at Buffalo Park (Flagstaff). (2 unattached). And Larkin & Reiss didn't even run. For context the George Kyte Class is often won in over 15 minutes (though the weather was nice a cool on Saturday at race time for the women). Stearns was the first collegian last year in 15:16, and a pro Chinese runner, Wuga HE (15:11 5k, 31:14 10k PRs) ran a 14:42. Yes, it's cross country, and times don't mean everything, but Long story short, the NAU women are REALLY good this year.

I think what is most impressive to me is the ability of the new comers to run so well at altitude so quickly. Buffalo Park is at 7,116 feet.
Larkin, Reiss, Kebbe, N Moore and Congdon didn't even run. Add them in as well and yes this team is going to be REALLY good!

the most impressive performance might be from true freshman Emma Stutzman in her first race at altitude running a 14:43. she pretty much stuck with Stearns and Smee the entire time - no small task.
she ran unattached, still a chance she redshirts, but with a time like that she's definitely on Smith's radar as the real deal.

Are they literally drunk? I used to have respect for this media outlet but seriously it’s gone after this ranking and this podcast. My 5th grade nephew could rank the teams better
Please post your rankings rather than insulting some else's.

I am thinking that the #5 slot could go to Hartman, Loveys, or Rauber depending on who has a good day in Charlottesville and being somewhere between 50-70 (say average 60 where you are at) for a total potentially in 100 point (or so) range.
