to all:
just got back from my physical therapy appointment--my PT thinks i'm nuts (was a little pissy) for running barefoot as part of rehab. but the massage therapist and orthopedic surgeon both think i may have found something. and i say this just to emphasize two points:
1. trying something different CAN work. barefoot, no orthotics, training in racing flats...who knows?
2. not everyone SHOULD try something different; exhaust "normal" options like i have (nearly 4 years of doctors, massage therapy, shockwave, ultrasound, stretching, etc) and then do it. don't just jump right in blindly.
oh, and another thing: i copied ~40 pages, including references, out of the orthopedic textbook, in case someone wants to get some more info, i'll have quotes and sources.
to chucko: amen. long live the freaks! if i could buy 100 pairs right now, even with the credit card debt i'm floating, i'd do it. (if anyone reads this and give me the opportunity, i'll prove it, too! love those shoes)
to GRDC: dropped you a line by email to see if you know any other spots around here, or trails you can run barefoot. (greenbelt's just a tad rocky, eh?) good luck to you.
cheers,
greg
