Today, for 36'39" HR 139. Steady pace for run, wind.
day off yesterday for track meet...warming into the 80s today...hoping for about 50' this am....
... a very partial tribute to Emil Zatopek:
20x400m, track, barefoot, never looked at the watch, just took laps and rests. Felt great. More Zatopek in the future, for sure...

impressive.
Today (no run yesterday), for 61:38. Steady moderate paced run on a windy day. AHR 138 MHR 147.
kids athletics.
Daughter (7 y-old) did a 50m dash and a 600m race.
Sunny and fun.
tpcb, nice bunch of intervals. Things like that have a way of brushing up ones genetic code, at any age. Commendable.
AM X-train 32 min. on catski's.119AHR
PM 5.2 miles in 46 min. with my bro in law on the Fox River Trail.
23 miles for my first week back in training.
15K trail run slated for tommorow.
thank-you Driske.
About halfway through set there was an undisciplined (but fun) 1:12 because i rabbited a buddy (a fast buddy) who was doing a 2000m time trial. Undisciplined but fun.
Next major Zatopek tribute will be:
"How many consecutive 400m will i be able to run between 1:20 - 1:24 with a 60 sec recovery max?"
Enjoy the trails.
6 miles averaging 6:44 pace. Tried to run 6:50s comfortably so that's pretty close. 5 x 80M hill sprints on a 35-40 degree incline, then 2 x 200M downhill on the same incline/decline but from further up. Overspeed training I guess. 1 mile cool down.
Good reports, all! Keep them coming.
My week:
Monday - marathon watching
Tuesday - 55' easy
Wednesday - 50' tempo, lifting
Thursday - 88' easy, lifting, massage (!!)
Friday - 6 x 1200, 2 x 800 (not too bad)
It's been kinda quiet around here without the trolls, but I think I can get used to it! :)
Wednesday-11/6.5 both @ 5:55
Thursday-13 (8 barefoot on the track)@ 6:09/5 @ 5:36
Friday 11 @5:55 (1 mile barefoot)
How was the massage Running Dogg? I am running higher mileage then normal, and wondering if they help?
haven't run in two weeks. I have a recurring back pain that travels down my leg and into my back. Pinched nerve maybe. It sucks.
fUrCeOsNhN,Looks like quite a bit of barefooting. Am i correct in reading Thursday as 13 miles of which 8 barefoot on track (couldn't figure pace for sure).. And Friday, 11 miles with shoes at 5:55 and then 1 mile barefoot...? What shoes do you run in? Surfaces? And what temperature is it in your part of the world?

I had never ran barefoot before for more then 800m cooldown after sprints but I watched a video with some kenyan runners running barefoot on a track-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dmjQfCYEtQ&NR=1
-which inspired me to do it. It was on the grass about a foot inside of the track actually, so maybe it was 7.8-7.9 miles barefoot. It was enjoyable but the skin on both of my big toes has abraded a bit. I wanted to go to 20 but I am ok with my amount. Set goals very high, and even if you don't achieve them you still get in a good workout trying I guess.
I run in nike pegasus shoes normally/spikes sometimes.
Yesterday was 11 miles total (10 shoes/1 barefoot...I could not do anymore barefoot as it was too painful. But it is a good pain-it is not an injury and I will recover and my feet will be stronger)
The weather is perfect this time of year...glad winter is gone!
cool video, enjoyed it. very few barefoot kenyans. And too bad quality quite low. Still thanks for link.
This is the best i could do on short notice to return favor.

(start watching from 2:24 if u pressed for time)
then part 2

in english you can watch
15K on sandy undulating trail. 78 minutes, 10 minutes slower than last year. AArgh, out of shape and another year older.
Weather man served up 37F and 40mph winds, so I'll save the barefoot for another day.
Snuck out for a coolish 52' today. Felt good, but now back by the fire to stay warm. What happened to spring?
Keep up the good work, all!
@ mi warmup
4x1000m and a 600m thrown in for fun.
2 mi cooldown.
Just trying to get some speed in there to keep things interesting. Mileage is getting boring.
