Calvert Hall could be in the mix if they improve - look at this -
Calvert Hall state meet 2022 - 5th NXR SE - 50 points behind Belen Jesuit 2022 which was 2nd auto qualifier. 15:30 16:10 16:13 16:27 16:30 Calvert Hall state meet 2023 - 15:34 15:39 16:11 16:17 16:36 Calvert Hall seems stronger than they were in 2022. If they keep improving they might have a shot at NXN.
Calvert Hall appeared to be missing some guys this week. Rei Nettey - 15:22 at the Adidas challenge Luke Doetschman - 16:15 at the Adidas Challenge (has a PR of 16:10 which he ran last year). Stephen Gonzalez - 15:58 at NXR last year but nowhere to be found this year Caleb Mincey - 16:38 at the Paul Short run Ryan Warner ran a 15:56 at the Adidas challenge but only a 17:29 this week.
According to an article, “It was the first time in 25 years it felt like work,” Cruz said. “It was my passion always.” That’s why Cruz, who coached Ventura boys cross country to a state championship in 2014, decided to resign as the school’s boys and girls cross country coach.
Wow…did this guy not realize that for EVERY coach (not just him) it feels like work, if they want a team to make, let alone win, NXN? Every team that wants to make or win NXN needs hard work from the athletes AND the coaches.
I think that the best time for him to quit would be after Sadie Engelhardt graduates. Not before this season.
Dev Doshi, a UCLA-bound senior at Newbury Park High in California, won the Marmonte League title by covering the 3-mile layout at Agoura High in 15:13.98 to lead the Panthers to their seventh consecutive boys team championshi...
Sounds like Newbury Park guys are a bit discouraged but Doshi assures everyone that these early rankings don't matter. All that matters is State. Now that's a good team leader right there.
Vandegrift is insanely good. They were put in the rated race at Woodbridge. If they were in the sweepstakes race, they would have finished ahead of San Clemente. they are a really strong team.
Now at the state championships they continue to get better. They are now only 21 point point behind southlake carroll, a team that is arguably the 3-4th best team in the nation.

And Their #6 guy didn’t finish the race. I think they might be better than all out-of-state teams in the region
It was completely obvious to me that they were 2nd in south region after Woodbridge. It’s never obvious to ranking sites though. If they don’t fumble it at nxr, there should be quite a gap between 2nd and 3rd place nxr.
