At a rally the other day, DJT referenced his frequent mentions of the “great Hannibal Lecter,” and proceeded to say that the “Fake News Media” would twist that into saying he loves Hannibal Lecter.
So if he means something else, why wouldn't he say something else? I know Mario Cuomo famously said that politicians campaign in poetry and govern in prose (ugh), but this guy ain’t Emily Dickinson or Theodore Roethke, so why wouldn’t he just say what he means and mean what he says?
I mean, he’s supposed to be the guy who loves “the uneducated,” so the words shouldn’t have to be submitted for exegesis, should they?
And if some late septuagenarian starts using the name of a fictional character as though he’s real, why is anyone supposed to believe that looking upon that with a major “huh” face has to be taken as partisan? I know that’s not my reaction at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Please, no ostensible smackdowns or similar WWE-style takes: Just a legitimate, well-articulated, logical reply to show me that this isn’t a guy in possession of even fewer marbles than Biden.
