At least we know now that the GOP has no democratic principles anymore.
They bowed down to Trump. This might be the end of the GOP.
No it’ll take several years for them to bleed out

GOP: failed leader impeached for 2nd time in single term (one year apart), lost Senate and split party.
And, Trump has cranked up some new political wheels. The GOP just voted to split the party.
Trump said today: "Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun. In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people. There has never been anything like it! We have so much work ahead of us, and soon we will emerge with a vision for a bright, radiant, and limitless American future."
Read as you like. It comes across as insurrection v2. A "limitless American future" is Trumpspeak for a limitless term for dictator Trump.

Enjoy your loss, Trollskunk. You guys blew it. You got humiliated. Your tepid liberal souls reek of pathos, shame and failure. You guys couldn't impeach a poltroon. You couldn't impeach a fish with it own gills. You couldn't impeach your way out of bunny suit. You guys suck at impeaching.
Whacko. Rhymes with jacko. You guys couldn't impeach a pig in a flymo.
ENJOY Your Loss. Loss? That's for YOU to enjoy.
Enjoy your loss, tripe hound.

Yeah, good times ahead. Trump on his way to the first dictatorship of the former US of A.
But more likely Trump will die soon because he is not in good shape.
Trump is speaking to Bigots, only. M*GA has always been code for Make America White Again !! Right Orange followers ??

No.

I can only speak for me. I voted for him because he didn't want to give the country away to foreign nations. I am kind of glad his time has ended, though, because of the fierce division in the country. You can blame him, and others can blame the dems. Bottom line is that there was division, and I am not keen on that.

translation: I am not brave enough to see through right wing propaganda.
But sometimes, late at night, I wish I were.
Mitch is one of the worst human beings in American public life.
I at least understand where a guy like Cruz is coming from.
Mitch knows better and has decided he isn't brave enough to call balls and strikes as he sees it.
He wants the balls to be for him and strikes to be against the other guy.
But nothing on him.
He has done enormous damage to America and will continue to do so.

Trump didn't say that. His attorneys wrote it for him probably a week ago.

I don't know how I responded to the wrong post but I meant to the poster that noted Trump's statement.

I read the article linked to the Fox tweet, it was very factual about the votes and did not criticize the Republicans that voted against Trump:
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/republican-senators-vote-to-convict-trump-on-incitement-charge.amp?__twitter_impression=trueTrump ACQUITTED! That means he's NOT guilty.
And that's that. Why did the Dems even try? All they did was draw out the RINO's to be purged from the GOP, and that will work against them.
Dems should have brought some Rs onto the house manager krew. Rs are way better at politics and messaging and would have helped.
Sasse nails it, as did Toomey and Cassidy

Totally failing democracy.
In Australia, a sitting Prime Minister was sacked by the Governor General (1975) and new elections called.
Several times a sitting PM has been successfully challenged by a cabinet minister and the sitting PM. These internal challenges are done politically because the party knows the public will roast them at the next election.
Paul Keating took over from Bob Hawke in 1991
Julia Gillard successfully challenged Kevin Rudd in 2010, and the reverse happened in 2013.
Those were Labor govts.
Then in Liberal govts, Malcolm Turnbull deposed Tony Abbott in 2015, and was then deposed by current PM Scott Morrison in 2018
Our economy and govt is the envy of the world, because we don't tolerate crap.
You guys can't even impeach someone even who incites riots against your parliament. He would probably get away with shooting someone in NY as he has said.
I think you actually need another civil war to rewrite your constitution...it is written on a scroll I think.

come on man, Trump was impeached twice. You mean 'remove.'
and a prime minister system is totally different than the US presidential system. It's a different animal. The US is set up with a built in tension between the executive branch and the legislative. There's supposed to be disagreement between the two, and one is not supposed to run rampant over the other. That's why it's so hard to eject a president.
A prime minister/parliament system doesn't have that tension. Prime Minister/parliament systems are forever tossing out PMs sure but that's just their own party making a decision.
You surely don't think someone from a different branch of gummint should be able to easily toss out a PM.

As a foreigner maybe you're not clear on how US law and trials work. Acquitted means he's not guilty. That means he didn't incite riots. Also we don't call it a parliament.
There's no point saying he incited riots, when he didn't. It's over.

'Impeach', 'remove', 'fire', who cares about semantics, he is still acquitted. Why even say the guy was 'impeached', when it means zip?
You missed the bit where I said that your constitution needs changing.
You missed the bit where I said its a failed democracy
You missed the bit where I said a Governor General (independent) sacked a PM.
Your defence is like saying to a dictator led country..."hey that's how the system works"

Lol, has this brought you out of hiding.
Dictators are acquitted too, they do even worse things.
...and its a parliament, a generic description , please.
You really need to start going to school, your legs are hairy already.
