the perfect end to the trump administration merdefest would be Rudy and Cruz doing the impeachment defense, totally messing it up, getting disbarred yet Trump gets acquitted with 5 Rs voting to convict.
Democrats are cuomosexual Lincoln project supporters.
That’s disgusting.

Not clear that people understand how major this is. With a week to go, Donald Trump is without a defense team in an impeachment trial.
Of course, there are plenty of lawyers in the House. I'd imagine that one or more ambitious Representatives might volunteer their services...
I think the bigger news is that trump refused to cave on the defense strategy. He wants to stay all in on the fake election fraud approach. Some fools will step in and do what he wants just to have the spotlight but it shows there will be zero coordination with the GOP. The optics may really hurt them, again. Pls everyone now knows they were always going to acquit regardless of the facts. I just wish it was close to the next election cycle :). The Dems need to focus heavily on the complicity of the GOP.

This isn’t going to end well for them regardless. I love it, let them keep digging a bigger hole and may they welcome the new crazies to destroy what’s left of them.

the problem is that no lawyer is going to stand up and say that trump won the election.
you can't lie in court.
I suppose there is some legalese like 'some people thought there was massive fraud" and make the assertion about what people thought, not the underlying facts of the case.
But then any kind of lawyer on the other side will hammer them to death 'was there any evidence of systemic fraud'
oh it's all stupid nothing matters. Trumpsters are liars, insurrectionists, authoritarians and liars - they don't care about anything but playing the game.
A lot of the liberals here seem almost proud of being liberal. Emboldened by recent events, they are practically shouting from the rooftops "I'm a liberal, and I'm proud!"
I see a lot of that. Just a year ago, who would have ever thought it was possible to be proud of that?

I think I may have to start treating you like a troll and ignoring you.
You seem smart and not trollish, and sometimes you post interesting and correct things.
But posts like this make me think otherwise.
I'll respond for now. But this is probationary.
Let's think back two years ago. Around November, 2018. November 6, 2018 to be specific.
What happened then? What did the American electorate do? I believe they stood up and yelled I'm a liberal and I'm proud,' and delivered the biggest blue wave in decades.

In regard to Ukraine, an acquittal was a given and the big win for Trump was that no witnesses were allowed in the Senate trial. If they had, it would have confirmed that Trump was planning to withheld aid to Ukraine until their president made an announcement of an investigation into the Bidens. Even worse, Trump and Giuliani didn't care whether an actual investigation ever happened. He still would have been acquitted but he would have been exposed as having lied to protect himself.
This time there will be witnesses and it will be devastating for Trump to have them describe all the insane things that were going on outside of the public eye. There is nothing an attorney can really do to challenge testimony that is not based on hearsay.
Even with the likely acquittal, Trump's reputation will take another significant hit. Republicans seeking election or reelection in purple states or districts, will feel increased pressure to denounce Trump and take their chances in the primaries. They will be at war with those only needing to win in the primaries. The GOP is in for some rough sledding.

So your response, Agip, to him is "probationary?" LOL. Who gives a flying Efff what you care. You are on here all day long calling us conservatives every name in the book. 74 million voted for Trump and how many stormed the Capitol? 300? 300 crazies. There are a LOT MORE crazies on the left. Trump didn't incite any riot - those rioters had already planned it. Trump said the election was corrupted and you are all over that. What about when Nancy Pelosi said that the 2016 election was "hijacked?" Were you crying like a baby back then? Seriously, you are on here 24/7 just whining about how terrible the Republicans are and never offering some criticism of those on the left. Honestly, Agip, you sound like a clown. And a clown who is crying. Not very flattering for you.

No, you can't put me on troll status for a minor infraction like that.
My point was that R. Reagan successfully made liberal a label of shame - a political four letter word. And it stayed that way for decades. Liberals were quiet about their inner desires, knowing that everything the liberal believes reeks of pathos and shame. That has unfortunately changed. Maybe, as you say, it was November 2018. I tend to think it was the riots of 2020. But whatever happened, you people are going through a Renaissance. It disturbing and doesn't bode well for what's left of America.

I've never heard of it being illegal for attorneys to lie in court. In a lot of cases, it's kinda of their job. What about Johnnie Cochran?

I think the issue here is semantics...really the people in this country who use the word 'liberal' are conservatives who mean it as an insult.
Democrats call themselves Democrats, not 'liberals.'
Dems are trying out the word 'progressive' to use to describe the Dem platform. They don't use 'liberal' much at all.
But that's just semantics...the desire for more health care, more personal freedoms, better schools, stronger enviro regulation, a thicker social safety net, connections to other nations...that's been the Dem platform for decades. Call it 'liberal' or call it 'progressive' or call it 'democratic party politics' it's all the same thing.

So most admit the Confederacy was wrong? How do you know they are honest? Do you also believe liberals when they say they love the country?
As for those who do not admit the Confederacy was wrong, they should feel free to leave the country. I don't know where they want to go, but I know many who would rather be Russians than Democrats.

What have you done for our country that makes you feel entitled to decide what it means to be American? Trump is not worthy of being one and "America First" was a lie.
You guys get confused easily. Pick-up trucks?
What are you even talking about "entitled"? Why do you think you're entitled to have an opinion on my opinion?
You think that someone is NOT entitled to have an opinion on your opinion?

"most"
FFS
that's the saddest post I've ever seen.
No it isn't. You really expect any sizable sampling of humans to result in 100% agreeing with something?
Now, if "most" means 51% then, yes that's sad. But if "most" means 90% then that's pretty much to be expected. I doubt that you would get close to 90% of ALL US citizens who would honestly prefer democracy to authoritarianism.
