I've seen commentary from at least one legal scholar that they should focused on that and only that incident, because of the challenges of proving "incitement" in a strict legal sense.
The Senators have complete descretion to vote however they want, so it doesn't matter whether incitement is proven or not. Do you believe that if a compelling, indisputable case is made that it wasn't incitement, there will be 100-0 vote for acquittal?
I believe that Trump putting himself above the country justifies his removal from office. Of course he will have already left the office, but a Senate trial will bring in several witnesses that will provide more detail as to how deranged Trump was during the two-month period between election day and the riot. Such testimony will result in further damage to his future political power.
