You read my mind! I am a former runner and coach, and am now a therapist that specializes in eating disorders in athletes. I helped start the ELITE Athlete Program at the Eating Disorder Center of Denver. Our dream was to create a place for athletes to get specialized treatment that didn’t require them to lose their identity as an athlete. Everyone's story and journey are different. Similarly, we all have different perspectives from which we view and interpret things. I would be happy to help by doing a Q&A, providing answers, resources, or anything else I can. As we all seem to understand this can be an extremely private and touchy subject. This illness is difficult, uncomfortable, and scary to talk about! As such, my email is linked to my name for anyone that wants to reach out back channel.-IJPhttp://www.edcdenver.com/elite-athlete-programhttp://www.edcdenver.com/defining-me/

I wonder whether Letsrun could reach out to a therapist who specializes in eating disorders for advice?

I'd like to hear from experts in EDs about how to raise concerns, what best practices are for coaches or teammates with concerns, etc. I think there needs to be a dialog in running, but I want to have that dialog in a way that helps and empowers. Could LRC reach out and commission something from a specialist?
