Okay, facts I remember seeing about A Duck:
-Born in 1958 +/- 1 (6 years younger than Henry Rono)
-Ran for Oregon with Centro Sr, Alberto, etc - based on his age I would say 1976-80
-Low-4's in the mile, didn't break it
-1:16.x in the 600
-Still lives in Eugene?
Should narrow it down quite a bit[/quote]
Are you sure he lives in Eugene, or just visits a lot? Clearly he lives within driving distance, but that could be several hours. I have a candidate that fits all the other criteria and this dude is genuinely crazy, thinks he's important and connected, is the biggest name dropper ever, and loves to mess with people. I need to see more facts collected about who A Duck is before I out him.
Have you ever noticed how 30th Avenue homey always comes to A Duck's defense but he is conspicuously absent from this thread...one more dot to connect?
I'm not sure... wrote:

Does your candidate Duck work in TV production?

Comparing Mo's PRs to a 43 year old 10K runner and concluding nothing anomalous is really stupid.
Sir Bedevere: There are ways of telling whether she is a witch.
Peasant 1: Are there? Oh well, tell us.
Sir Bedevere: Tell me. What do you do with witches?
Peasant 1: Burn them.
Sir Bedevere: And what do you burn, apart from witches?
Peasant 1: More witches.
Peasant 2: Wood.
Sir Bedevere: Good. Now, why do witches burn?
Peasant 3: ...because they're made of... wood?
Sir Bedevere: Good. So how do you tell whether she is made of wood?
Peasant 1: Build a bridge out of her.
Sir Bedevere: But can you not also build bridges out of stone?
Peasant 1: Oh yeah.
Sir Bedevere: Does wood sink in water?
Peasant 1: No, no, it floats!... It floats! Throw her into the pond!
Sir Bedevere: No, no. What else floats in water?
Peasant 1: Bread.
Peasant 2: Apples.
Peasant 3: Very small rocks.
Peasant 1: Cider.
Peasant 2: Gravy.
Peasant 3: Cherries.
Peasant 1: Mud.
Peasant 2: Churches.
Peasant 3: Lead! Lead!
King Arthur: A Duck.
Sir Bedevere: ...Exactly. So, logically...
Peasant 1: If she weighed the same as a duck... she's made of wood.
Sir Bedevere: And therefore...
Peasant 2: ...A witch!

Yes, it's all part of my elaborate plan to pretend to be an Oregon runner despite having lived on the east coast my entire life. Sometimes I even have arguments with myself, but it's all part of the ruse.
This kind of idiocy is exactly why I said you shouldn't drag someone's name into it: you're going be wrong 99 times out of 100.
There seem to be a lot of A Duck quotes that reference living in the Bay Area (Calif).
Most recently on the Montano thread:
"You know, I didn't want to post a prediction here that she would do this in Moscow, I don't predict races cos anything can happen.
I felt so strongly about this, that I nearly drove over to CAL and tried to talk to her at the track and beg her to mix it up strategy wise.
Of course that would have been nuts, lol. BUT, this was so predictable."

Or maybe he spouts a lot of BS to throw people off of his A Duck trail?
The person I'm thinking of has a major connection in the Bay Area and probably visits there a lot. He also doesn't have a job and has all day to troll.

To inject an obvious distinction, talk about Salazar as an athlete for Athletics West thirty years ago is a separate matter from talk about Salazar as a coach today--that is, how one comported oneself as an athlete is a separate matter from how one comports oneself as a coach, and is surely a distinct matter from how that coach's athletes comport themselves. And as for how Salazar treats his athletes, to the best of my knowledge we only have one first-hand account by someone no longer with the group. I think it's instructive, but maybe not.

To conclude, people make mistakes in life and sometimes actually learn from them. On this board the assumption is once bitten, forever bitten.

And here I am in Silicon Valley - check my IP if you wish, you'll see it is true.
I have no affiliation with the Duck and none with Oregon, NOP or Nike for that matter. Frankly, the Duck sounds like an idiot. But then, so do you, Boomhauer.
I have no idea who Ho Hum is either, but he is certainly right on this one.
In response to question: "Letsrun help! Best running shoe store in the Bay Area? Specifically in the south peninsula area palo alto, west San Jose, Santa Clara... Etc
A Duck replies:
"Niketown Stanford Shopping Center See Jane Run"
Indicates close familiarity with the area or with Nike stores. (Note" A Duck even knew the "See Jane Run" nickname).
Ok, this thread is properly renamed.
Yep, A Duck is very familiar with the Bay Area:
In response to a 2012 thread: "Does anyone know of any good places in the bay area (preferably around San Jose) that offer reasonable prices and good massages?"
A Duck responds: "Massage Envy"

A DUcK is noctural and posts mostly at night.
Personally, I think A Duck is nothing more than an ubertroll. The joke is on those who take him/her seriously. A Duck might live in the Bay Area (near Stanford), or near UofO, or somewhere else entirely.
I could care less who A Duck really is. There is no point in outing her/him. The fun of bantering back-and-forth (reverse trolling) with A Duck would be lost.
VERY close connections to Bay Area / San Jose

The mob mentality on this thread is getting out of control.
This message board has never been the most civil place to carry on discussions, but most people are pretty good about respecting a poster's choice to remain anonymous. It's one thing to "out" a public fraud like Kip Litton or Paul Ryan. It's quite another thing to out someone who is merely an annoying blowhard. And it's inexcusable to suggest names of people who may have nothing at all to do with this message board.
Well, I think A Duck is getting to taste his own medicine. The name of this thread and the first posting is really malicious, and he does all he can to draw Malmo into the mud.
I think he should come forward and reveal himself if he wants to play this game.
