9/115
1 was a girl
we had 6 more in the lower grades
I was the only senior in my class to break 5:00 (4:32) in a class of roughly 600. We had another senior who ran cross country who could've easily been under 5:00, but he played baseball!
Our scoring 5 was under 10:00 at postal plus 4 more in track so 9 in a class of 520. We also had 3 jr and 3 soph under 5 but I don't remember if or how many frosh.
2, 4:59 and a 4:25. Me at the 4:59 and my best friend at 4:25. Class of 48 which makes 4.16%.
I've found it very interesting that nearly all the schools are around 2% in a graduating year regardless of size.
Graduating class of 49.
5 of us could break 4:30 in the mile. Nobody else broke 5:00, but I don't know if anybody tried. We won the state championship in XC with 25 points (2, 3, 5, 6, 9) our senior year. We swept the 800, 1600, 3200, and 4 x 800 in track as well. We scored a perfect 15 at five of our 9 meets. Probably the greatest mid distance corps in Iowa history.
4 guys in my grade, with a small class of 62. But we had a good cross team jr and sr years.
In addition to myself, we had 3 others in my class and 6 in the class below us. Class size 204
4:12 1600m/ 3200m
4:38 800m/ 1600m
4:42 1600m
4:48 400m/ 800m
Those are the athletes specialties. Before that year we had never had a single class with more than one sub 5 guy but we still had 6 Track and Field state championships (not including anything below 800m) in 4 years between 3 different runners
4:18, 4:34, 4:35, 4:40, 4:43, 4:55, 4:59
Graduating class of 430
During that year, we had a couple other guys under 5 minutes. We had a junior 4:27 guy, a couple freshmen 4:50s, and another junior at 4:58.
I was the senior at 4:43, and two of the 7 were kids who broke 5 before senior year but quit due to injury
Class of 132, only one broke 5 minutes. We had another that ran 1:57 who could have if he ever focused on the 1600.

That's great!!
Our class of 94, zero. Fastest did break 5:30. Of course that was a long time ago.
I guess only two me and Rocco
4:37 for me
4:57 for Rocco
Class of 125
Currently in a high school with total enrollment of 226 (all boys) and 17 have broken 5:00 in the 1600/mile... Another 5 under 5:10 who should break outdoors this year. Only 3/55 in this year's graduating class though...
our entire high school numbered 750 and we had 11 guys that went sub 5 just 4 of those were seniors though

Runners breaking 5:00 not on Track Team: 32
All runners that broke 5:00 and were not on the track team did so running on either a 400m outdoor track in P.E. or a 160m indoor track.
Both tracks were official.
PE was required every year unless a student had an academic waiver.
The only reason I know the exact number of runners that broke 5:00 in PE is because the number of male individuals under 6:00, 5:30, and 5:00 are posted in the PE locker rooms after every fitness test.
During the fall run, a total of 47 broke 5:00, and I subtracted the 13 that I knew were also on the track team from that number.
Notably, this number could have varied, as one of the higher-timed individuals on the track team may not have managed to break 5:00 in PE.
