WHAT IS THE DEAL?!?!
I don't believe this.
you guys know that teg and webb are reading all of this laughing right now in their cozy little nike offices. we were massively set up!!!
And to be honest, i'm sure it was fun for them, but i'd like an apology. If Kobe Bryant pulled a stunt like this i could see it being all right because he'll be playing a real game in two or three days (during the season). But these guys race like 10 times a year, and webb hasn't raced in years!!! we were totally had, and i'm calling it a little rude and cruel.
teg and webb: finish up laughing at your little scam and apologize to your fans who were staying up late at night on a sunday, in great excitement FOR you two. You may not have meant for it to piss us off, but it did... NOW SAY YOUR SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm having the time of my life.
This is hilarious. Best troll in letsrun history.
I didn't mention a thing about the race today on my twitter
thought that would get people thinking..
Did you guys start this thread?
WTF NIKE? WTF!
What the hell is going on with this thread!?
While this may seem humorous to the folks at Nike and Webb and Teg it really is lame. As another poster pointed out our top guys only race 8-12 times per year and Webb has been out so alot of us were eager to see how he would do. As someone who has followed and supported Webb since his high school years I have to say that this was very insulting to those of us who were looking forward to his race and him doing well. I can't speak for anyone else but as far as I am concerned - Webb you can go f**k yourself and I hope you continue to flame out. This kind of childish behaviour can be expected out of a group of immature, spoiled, over-indulgent rich kids like the NBA but from a running community that is by and large educated this is simply insulting to the few fans who have been trying to support you. All I can say is you are one fan less for this stunt and if you think I'm a troll, wether I get spammed or not here is my email address
.
For an educated person all I can really say is F**k you Alan, f**k you.

I might be delusional, but I sort of believe that Teg actually posted in this thread.
I hope these guys do apologize tomorrow. Elite running fans are hard to come by...

This is pretty lame, but I do not think it is all of Nike's fault. I do not think straight up lying is a good way to get people interested in a running club.
I went back to the videos on and it looks like one or two guys are running this sh$% show.
and
.
It's not about taking oneself too seriously. It's about fans genuinely and sincerely wishing the best for these guys and they taking their fans for granted. How old are these guys? Could they not see this pissing some people off? Maybe they don't realize how big of news it is to fans when Alan Webb is going to be in the results listing again. Whether you're a fan of his or not (or was), him racing again is a pretty big deal to American distance running fans...
I can't dwell on this anymore though, good night!
in before injury excuse
in before we decided to race later excuse
in before the course is not salazar certified
I don't care about Nike, Teg, or Webb anymore!
In any other event venue this would be complete bullsh$%. Saying a star is going to race and be somewhere but he or she does not even show up? Nice job Nike/Bowerman AC marketing.

It's pretty well thought that this was a joke. I don't think these excuses are reasons that they pulled this stunt...
I was going to run, but my achilles started flaring up. I'm sorry to disappoint so many fans.
