Having the same doc as both Rupp and Goucher, there is definately something wrong with each of their thyroids.
I had to go through a couple of different blood works and tests to diagnose the problem and I'm sure they did too.
Definately? What is the root word? Definate?
You went through different "blood works"? Do you mean you had blood work done two times? If that is it then say so. Sharpen up man!
I know that Synthroid is a PE, and I have for 20 years, but what changed over the last 8 years for you that allowed you to understand this?
Also, use Mozilla as a browser when posting anything written on the internet, it has a built-in spell check function. It will make you appear like a much better writer.

I watched the movie "Bigger, Stronger, Faster" and immediately thought about Rupp, Goucher's, etc, and their thyroid deficiencies. In the movie it shows how easy it is to get proscribed medication like this to help with "deficiencies."
Ummm, you "immediately thought about Rupp, Goucher's" what exactly?
What part were you hoping was "Bigger, Stronger, Faster"?
Charlie Francis, in his book "Speed Trap", says runners (any type) who take steroids often take thyroid supplements (back then mostly thyroxine) to keep slim. He says thyroid meds increase the metabolism. Testosterone is a steroid hormone, which will increase muscle mass. So even if let's say a distance runner were taking small amounts of exogenous testosterone using let's say a creme, that athlete would tend to gain some muscle mass which would be undesirable for distance running so it would be right in line with long established doping practices to administer thyroid meds not as a masking agent but to counter-act muscle bulking.
WADA and USADA know all about this. They have a large body of knowledge acquired since the early 80s. Let's Run posters may take a simplistic approach in trying to figure out what is going on, but WADA and USADA have deep understanding of the various doping practices.
Looks like US and UK anti-doping agencies are asking for a ban on thyroxine, but they aren't mentioning the use you describe. Wonder why they aren't mentioning that?

So what will Kara run this weekend? Will she get second to Huddle?
