This is it in a nutshell. And this concept that the contact made by Kipyegon was somehow conscious and therefore deliberate - was absurd. Think about if that had ended up in a pileup with her on the verge of defending her Olympic 1500m title - why would she ever do this and compromise her health as well. The right decision has been made - I only feel terrible for the Italian girl. Ugh.
Pathetic officiating. Kipyegon should never have been disqualified. The whole fiasco was a disservice to the champ, Chebet, because the controversy is getting more attention than a dominant win; a disservice to Battocletti for emotional torment: a disservice to Kipyegon for obvious reasons.
Too bad Tsegay’s blatant infraction can’t be handled by the athletes like happens in American team sports. If it was the latter, in the 10000 Chebet and Hassan would conspire to push Tsegay off the track mid race.
Italian dodgy politics at play. If Tsegay had rightly been DQ'd it wouldn't have impacted medals. Kipyegon was impeded. Silly decision. Mafioso work of the Italian Olympic Committee at work.

Yeah I want to know who thought DQ'ing Kipyegon was the move? Completely unforced error by them. Tsegay didn't factor in the end, and she was the instigator. Battocletti wouldn't have had anything to do with that decision coming down. Now, at least it gets fixed and is not like the time the French got Ezekiel Kemboi DQ'ed for a step on the line or whatever that nonsense was.
I’m so tired of this crap. No other sport has fans that care at all about doping allegations. But it infests every thread on Letsrun. There isn’t a single athlete in all of track and field you can discuss without someone popping in to accuse them of doping.
It’s bad for the site and it’s bad for the sport.
Tel me you've never been on a cycling forum without telling me you've never been on a cycling forum.

Because a lot of runners are slow and insecure. They cannot run fast as some of the Africans so they accuse them all of doping. I remember people saying Bekele was doping but never had any proof just baseless accusations. After all these years he's still doing well with not one positive result. Jacob comes along and he is the Saviour of running and God forbid if you criticize him his disciples come out like rabid dogs.
This site is good for keeping up with the sport but some of the fans here are like 40 year old frustrated virgins who never been outside their hometown.
It looked to me that Faith wasn't trying to pull her back, but to pull the arm out of her path (and gut). But it doesn't look good and opens the door for officials to judge.
I give you no credit for your doping allegations because you claimed to have a patented method and no such patent is on file with the patent office.
If this Olympic committee wanted drama they are delivering. On the spot changes that doesn't let SFR into the gate just different from yesterday's routine, the repechage has been delivering very close second chances, 20 women in the women's pole vault final, photo finish in men's 100. Who would think we would see Faith DQ'd with medal changes on the spot. But on a high note Duplantis breaks his own world record. The drama continues. This is a can't miss Olympics
Nah. Just more rampant political correctness in favor of a poor third world athlete. If Faith were European she’d have DQ’d and pilloried by all those who fall all over each other trying to show who’s more woke.

Three links from June 2024.
Since 2016, Kenya (along with Belarus, Ethiopia and Morocco) has been classified in category A of countries under surveillance by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Kenyan long-distance runners, stars in their own country, are in the crosshairs of the anti-doping authorities due to the growing number of cheating cases, especially since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) has provisionally suspended 26 runners for violating anti-doping rules, while Rhonex Kipruto, the 10km world record holder, has had a suspension turned into an official six year ban, all in a week of unprecedented action against cheating in Kenyan running.
The Kenyan runners received provisional suspensions because of doping offences, while the 10km world record holder gets a six-year ban in big crackdown on doping in Kenya.
Kenyan athletes are being banned, literally, by the hundreds. The country that produces many of the world's outstanding distance performers has a huge credibility crisis. It is clear that doping is widespread, but frustratingly, despite dozens of athletes being caught and banned every month, we are no closer to identifying how what have been described as "sophisticated doping regimes" are being managed and delivered to many of the best Kenyan athletes. In this Spotlight, the second episode of the Series, Ross and Gareth talk about the extent of the problem, the challenges faced by authorities who are casting their own spotlight on Kenyan running, and the shadow that sadly looms over Kenyan medals and records.

Very messing racing up front with runners not taking an acceptable line and others taking exception to not being excused for that unacceptable line. The chief protagonists also obviously do not like each other. But was the infraction worth taking a silver from someone - no. If it had cost the Ethiopian a medal, maybe. I feel sorry for the Italian. But a great run by her none the less.
