Nikki Hiltz is a female and a very talented athlete; however, SHE can't tell me how to address her. That was decided by GOD Almighty
Yikes! So God Almighty spoke to you about Nikki Hiltz? Cool. I always thought God spoke in King James English - like "thee" and "thou". So God say thee should useth thy tradional pronounseth? Really?
Nikki Hiltz is a female and a very talented athlete; however, SHE can't tell me how to address her. That was decided by GOD Almighty but I will respect her as a person/athlete but she will always be identified as a female when I speak of her .
If a guy goes by Dan but his first name is actually Daniel, do you refuse to call him Dan?
If a woman gets married and takes on her husband’s last name, do you insist on using her maiden name when addressing her?

Apples and oranges. Calling someone by different names doesn't alter anything about a person's reality, whereas calling a woman anything other than she/her denies that that person is a woman... which is what Nikki Hiltz is, regardless of her delusions.

Thank you for making to sense to a very simple scenario the the responding poster couldn't grasp. I'm not taking anything from Nikki's talent or her decision but calling her by her current gender is common sense.

I can grasp it just fine. It’s about respecting someone’s wishes for how to be addressed. And it requires the same amount of minuscule effort to remember someone’s preferred name as it does their preferred pronoun.
So she’s biological a female and she is running in a female race. So all the extra chatter is meaningless and doesn’t need to happen. She can say she’s a turtle and it doesn’t matter. She’s a female running in a female race. End of story. End of drama.

Agreed. The gender fixation here is irrelevant. She's a female running in a women's event. She also happens to have made a huge jump in her level of performance as she nears thirty. That raises questions about how a top athlete can improve so much at that age when they were already highly trained in their mid twenties.

huh? She is competing in a woman's race and she says she isn't a woman. You can't have it both ways. I don't care what she is... But if she was born a woman and says she isn't a woman, she needs to race in a different race. How hard is that?

I don’t see you questioning the improvement of Emily Mackay - her progression is even more suspicious.
Nikki lives and trains in Flagstaff, which as we know is 9000ft of elevation. Look at Nico’s progression after living and training there. There’s something to be said about training and living at altitude and then coming down to sea level tapered.

It’s actually apples to apples if you use your brain for at least 5 seconds. Daniel = birth name and Dan = nickname. Even though they’re both technically names, they’re different types of names and have different purposes for that person. Just like how Female = biological sex and non-binary = gender identify. They’re describing two different things about a person, and both can be true. Saying they’re non-binary doesn’t “alter Nikki’s reality”…. because their gender identity doesn’t negate the fact that their sex is female.
I swear y’all think about gender more than trans people. How exhausting for you.
What a strange discussion...clicked to see a discussion on what a great race Nikki ran and see a bunch of irrelevant garbage.
Nikki = Olympian and U.S. Champion and ran a fantastic race - let Elle do the work, which should not in any way be a criticism, and won.
Right? Nikki even said in the post race interview that they weren’t looking to make the Olympic team - they were treating it like any other race and the goal was to win… and that is exactly what they did.
And it's always upsetting every Nikki thread has to be ruined by the garbage that always shows up, allowed by the mods and even encouraged by the owners. Y'all are a disgrace to the sport, grow up.

I would question many top athletes today. But Hiltz is the subject of this thread.

Nobody is born a woman. Ever hear of childhood?
Racing categories are based on biological sex not gender identity. How hard is that?
