Shoutout Nathan Green and Vincent Chattei for bold runs, I thought maybe Green was going to nip Kessler right at the line the way he was tearing down the straightaway like a man possessed
the US talent split between the 15 and steeple is way too unbalanced and I think Coop would be the best candidate to make the switch. Basically a lock for team USA every year. Worked out for Beamish, didn't even hurt his 15 abilities.
SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW. Not the biggest cole fan but that was so impressive. Americans finally able to run with the best. Hobbs is my favorite runner and this was incredible from him. 3:31 AFTER ROUNDS!!!!! not a far cry from the level of nuguse and hocker. I also think in a post 2016 global 1500 final, nuguse may be better suited but hocker was incredible today!
Major props to Nuguse for taking the pace. Worth giving up the win just to make sure some bum doesn't sprint past you at the end.
Setting the pace like that guaranteed our best team even if Nuguse didn’t get the win. I think Hocker was going no matter the style of race, but Kessler, now that he’s 21, probably owes Nuguse a beer.
A lot of people who insisted that Kessler couldn't race tactically, that he'd get out-raced by savvier NCAA guys or journeymen or whatever, need to eat a lot of crow--you know who you are.
