Because a claim was just made that his finish in the 5k proves he has a strong finish in a race less than a third of that distance. You can't follow a discussion.
You are extremely affected by Ingebrigtsen. After such an easy victory at 5k against great European runners (when we're still not absolutely sure about his current fitness) you mention he might have beaten Rudisha over 5k.
You are completely laughable, not able to just give a serious reply to Ingebrigtsen's performances.
How do you rank his chances for double Gold in Paris?
There have been threads about Ingebrigtsen's "kick" or relative lack of it but it escapes some of you that the measure of a top 1500 kick isn't in a 5k race.

JIG has superior intelligence and self control, that's why he can cruise at a disciplined blazing pace and not accelerate any more. He has less speed reserve than Ker, but ANYONE has speed reserve (even Jingyberry) when the rest of the field has only brought a few packs of STEEL reserve to the race....
it's like, can I run a 12.3 on the fly after I've been hobbyjogging a warmup for 11.5 laps? Yes. Duh.
people on this forum need to start taking some EPO for the brain at this point

Same as how Snell could only kick in slow races
They weren't slow races. His competitors were often flat-out when he kicked. Cary Weissiger and other top American milers said that. They had no answer to his kick.

Uhm, his PR is 3.37, he never ran a fast race.
You show your ignorance again. The only 1500 he ran was in the Tokyo Olympics. He was the top miler of his era with the best kick. In '63 he destroyed the American record while burying the best milers in the country - like Beatty, Grelle and Weissiger - with his kick. But I understand you know nothing of anything before the 21st century.
Probably Foster's greatest competitve run, leaving both Kuschmann, who had won the 10000m gold earlier in the week. and double Olympic champion Viren in his wa...

What do you mean again? But yes, not saying he had a bad kick, it’s just compareable to Ingebrigtsens 5k kick since the race was so slow and the pace you kick from is way slower. Much bigger difference than when kicking in the sub 3.30 races of today where the top speed before the kick is already high.
Yes, the guy who easily beats all the 12:40 guys is not able to run sub 13.
Indicative of sub 13? Sure... but WRs are a different story.
Damn lots of downvotes lolz. Jakob femboys are sensitive.. look, if he was in 5K WR shape he'd have gone for it already. And I actually think he can eventually do it - he's just not there yet.

He can't try all WR in a single season.
Last season he already tried and succeeded in the 2miles and 2000m. This season he comes back from injury and there are European championships and OG.
The fact that he didn't try doesn't mean he can't. We know since his 2miles that he can beat the 3000m WR but he has not tried yet.
I believe Gebriwhet, Kejelcha, Aregawi, Kiplimo and Cheptegei can run 12:35 or better in a WR attempt. I also believe Jakob is at least as good if not better than those guys in the 5000m. It's a matter of time.
