You are a pedant. And you are wrong. The use of apostrophes in numbers such as dates is a convention that depends on whether you are writing for a British or American audience.
From the University of Sussex:-
In British usage, we do not use an apostrophe in pluralizing dates: This research was carried out in the 1970s.
American usage, however, does put an apostrophe here: (A) This research was carried out in the 1970's.
(Letsrun is an American site.)
Nice try. You use British English and you are constantly shi.tting on Americans.
You are wrong. You didn't know how to write dates. You are a narcissistic sociopath.
I am not wrong. You are wrong. Idiot.
The University of Sussex says you are a moron, as it has shown above. You're an American but you don't know how Americans write dates. But I see your wounded narcissism is at play here.
So one former Confederate general 30 years after the Civil War achieving public office (for reasons only of political expediency) doesn't refute the reason for the 14th Amendment and the Confederate leaders being disqualified from public office. What do you think was the purpose of the 14th Amendment? I don't expect an intelligent answer.
quote:
"He represented a North Carolina district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1881 to 1887."
It wasn't just one. Per usual you are arrogantly clueless.
Alexander Stephens, Vice President of the Confederacy, served in the US Congress from 1873-1882.
So you find an exception that proves the rule; the 14th Amendment barred insurrectionists from office. None of the Confederate leaders had any role in government after the Civil War. But like most on the right today you find the Amendment very inconvenient - that is if you even understand it.
do you know what happens in the third world -- or even a lot of the first -- when you attempt a coup and fail? hint: it's not you get to run again next election pretending nothing happened. what do you think would happen if pro-navalny folks tried to break into the kremlin? how did china handle tian-an-men or hong kong? exactly.
the constitution says folks engaged in insurrection can't hold either national or state office. US law also has an insurrection act saying similar things if you are convicted of insurrection.
"democracy" is not you run the constitution and the laws of this country through a shredder and the only thing that matters is do enough zombies vote you back in. this isn't nam, there are rules.
quit pouting. thanks.
Please list all of the coups in the history of the world that were staged by people who were already in power.
Your argument is logically incoherent.
Trump had lost the election. You seem to have missed that - along with everything else.
I was dealing with addictions and didn't watch the news for six months because my phone was child locked. I also was living in a foreign country, relatively isolated from western culture.
Yesterday I found out Trump is going to represent the republicans on the ballot. I'm kinda freaking out. Isn't there anyone else willing to beat 81 year old senile Biden? Can't we use the system to send a better candidate into the race? Do we really have to rely on underhanded court proceedings to save us from choosing between these two terrible options?

When Democrats and liberals gather to b!tch and moan about something, it’s a protest. The one time the right does it, it’s an insurrection.
The mob didn't "b*tch and moan"; they tried to overthrow the government and showed the intention to kill - a gallows was constructed for Mike Pence and any others they could get their hands on.

We get it. This was different. No it wasn’t. It was a protest that got out of hand.
Had it been liberals, it would’ve been referred to as “mostly peaceful.”

When did liberals last attempt to overthrow the government through force?
The last insurrection before Jan 6 began with the Confederacy firing on Fort Sumter.
Supreme Court UNANIMOUSLY puts to rest bogus 14th Amendment cases. “Protecting Democracy” does not mean you can keep your chief opponent off the ballot. This isn’t Russia.

You're right. The US is more a banana republic and you'll get the tin-pot dictator you deserve.
