The 'Strange' people were not apprehended, they surrendered themselves to the police.
They were representatives from Qiaodan. (I.e. the company that Kiptum signed to after Valencia before doing a 180 and running in Nike gear at the London marathon)
they simply wanted him to uphold his end of the deal and even took photos with the family.
they gave their statements and were released
stop sensationalizing an accident please
It is stated that Kiptum had chosen the option of paying back the company rather than go back and run for them. The question is, why did the company seem to be fixated on forcing Kiptum to accept their terms rather than take the option Kiptum had picked? And with such huge contracts, are they not supposed to be transacted in courts and the other company ( Nike) be represented? Those whole thing looks fishy and in my opinion, it seems the Chinese company was determined that if Kiptum could run for them, he wasn't going to run for nobody! Just very sad. We hope the truth comes out.
If you followed the thread you could understand that the question came from the statement made in the article, that the car was perfectly fine and functioning. Read the stuff dude, before commenting.
What does that prove? Just about every car wreck involves functional cars.
What was it about his car that makes you believe Kiptum was murdered? Why is him driving too fast and losing control improbable? On top of that, I haven’t seen a possible motive in this thread that makes sense.
This entire thread is almost entirely influenced by a comment his father made within a day of him dying. What's a pretty common first stage of grief? Denial.
It doesn't strike me as abnormal that a grieving father would have the thought "there's no way this could have just happened as an accident, it must be investigated" even if there's no factual basis for this.

Mighty. Who is talking about murder? Not me. Are you crazy or what?
Apparently you never understood logic, ratio, analysing and questioning what is not coherent.
Or you are here just to provoke, like many others.
"The four men who visited marathoner Kelvin Kiptum's father days before the athlete died presented themselves to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office in Kaptagat on Wednesday morning for questioning.
The quartet, who were summoned after Kiptum's father denied knowing them, surrendered to police in Kaptagat and were ferried to the area police headquarters in Iten where they recorded statements on why they were looking for the late Kiptum.
Details have now emerged about their mission to the late Kiptum's home.
The four men reportedly sought out Kiptum to discuss the particulars of a Ksh.45 million contract signed between the late marathoner and a Chinese company.
Sources told Citizen TV that the athlete had opted to pay back the Chinese company, but the company was only interested in having the athlete fulfill his contractual obligation and not a legal battle so they sent the four to negotiate a deal.
"The Chinese company was to supply sports equipment to Kiptum to be used during the Chicago marathon and it is alleged that Kiptum opted to use a different brand and not the Chinese brand as agreed," Elgeyo Marakwet CCIO Joshua Chelal told Citizen TV.
"Therefore they (Chinese company) were aggrieved and sent the four men to negotiate whether they could be compensated or whether they would be given another opportunity to supply Kiptum equipment for the forthcoming Rotterdam race slated for April 2024."
The quartet's lawyer, Kipyegon Lagat, told Citizen TV that his clients are well known to Kiptum's family, further adding that the four had a fruitful discussion with the late marathoner during their interaction. "None of my clients were sent from State House as alleged by sections of the media," said Lagat.
The lawyer's clients are not under arrest but are required to report back to the CCIO on Friday as investigations continue."

Did I respond to the wrong post and you really agree that it was an accident?

Or Kiptum signed up to a deal, was paid a sum for it and then reneged on the deal so they wanted to work out what was going on before they sued his ass. Paying the money you received back does not clear you from breach of contract.
Don't know how you people see it, but to me these guys look pretty obscure. Not the types who want to handle the situation in a formal decent way, like a reliable company would do.
Also, wondering what role his manager, coach and Nike had. All should've advised and warned Kelvin before signing for Nike, or did Kiptum kept it secret? Like lot's of things.
To me, there's just still way too much of an accumulation of 'normal coincidences' in this tragic accident, to take it as a normal accident.
Don't have a clue what has happened and do wish sincerely a thorough meticulous inspection in all aspects, will rule out the speculations and conspiracies!
Living is most of time chaotic, not really trustworthy, messy and especially extremely clumsy. Kenya seems a country where all this could be multiplied by 1000.
Someone please explain why the cartels would possibly want to get rid of him. I see no disruption on his part and no conceivable gain on their part.
Not saying this is how things went down, but if you break a deal with a cartel, they make an example of you. That way no one else breaks deals. Basic game theory.
I'm interested in hearing an interview from the surviving woman in the car.. who can speak to a lot of these questions. How did he lose control of the car? Was there anyone else involved? Did Kiptum talk about these men? Was there an animal on the road? Did he suffer some type of medical event? I'm surprised she hasn't been interviewed yet.

First the media said she's severely injured, next day she was out of hospital and media wrote that she told Kelvin lost control over the vehicle obviously. That's it! Unbelievable, in Kenyan media seem not to be interested in the precise story, why, how exactly, when precisely, etc.. what kind of mentality is that!?!

If they wanted to make an example of Kiptum, why would a cartel want to make it look like an accident? Unless Kiptum was a major distributor, there wouldn’t be a reason for Kiptum to make a deal with a cartel.
I'm a Kenyan and live in Eldoret and here are my thoughts:
1. There are no cartels/mobster/organized crime in Eldoret, especially in the outskirts such as Iten/Kaptagat where most of the athletes live and train. Thats why many Western athletes(Mo Farah etc) come and live/train in these communities. It's one of those places where everyone knows everyone. It's an agricultural town, and there's simply not enough money to support cartels/mobsters. It's common for us to meet athletes doing shopping, hanging out with their friends etc, and nobody bothers them. I've bumped into Ezekiel Kemboi, Eliud Kipchoge, Conseslus Kipruto etc and they are just like normal people.
2. Athletes are pretty wealthy but Eldoret has business people, lawyers, doctors etc who make way more money, and have longer careers. Indiana University and a bunch of other universities set up a really big medical program to treat HIV, Cancer, etc , and we see American doctors walking to and from work everyday and there's never been an incident with them.
3. Kenyan roads are pretty dangerous. for example. The Eldoret-Ravine road is pretty narrow, doesn't have a shoulder and has unmarked road bumps/potholes. Kenyan drivers are also the most reckless(overspeeding, drunk driving, recklessness etc) in the world, and athletes tend to be up there as the most notorious - Part of the reason is that its pretty hard to arrest/prosecute famous people, and athletes tend to be given senior appointments in the police. .
Saturday marks exactly one week after last Saturday's tragic road accident that claimed the lives of 43 people after a canter vehicle ferrying inflammable ma...
In this case, I think Kiptum got a new car(from the plates), was overspeeding(~ 100mph) and lost control of the vehicle. Word on the street is that he was seen leaving a popular club, and had been drinking. There is a reason why the third passenger has not come forward.
