After every regional, Jonathan Gault will be running Bo Waggoner's program to see who is in and out. He'll post the results on the live blog on the front page: https://www.letsrun.com/events...

This is not rocket science. If a grass course , like SEC, is accurate in distance, the JD calculator equivalent 5k, on same course in same conditions, is very reasonable.
I hate to burst your bubble but that last 1440 meters Lemngole ran (supposedly) at 3:47 1500m pace.
We had multiple parties come on and claim the SEC course was accurate. What are you still having a problem with? Lemngole faded that day.
She was barely ahead of her teammate, who we have a very good gauge on. What seems most relevant are the gaps. The times were markedly fast across the board.

Sorry I was talking about todays regional course, not SECs.
But I used the SEC result as another gage of what we are seeing. LACCTIC is another gage, and it will be interesting to see what it comes up with post-Regionals.

I did some more analysis of the numbers. Somewhere the course was definitely not accurate.
The final results show a split at 4560m. Valby's time at 4560 was 14:12.5. At that pace, her 5000 split, if they were available, would have been about 15:34.8. With her finish time of 17:59.6, she would have had to cover the last 1000 meters in about 2:24.8. Extrapolating that pace out means that Valby ran her last 1000 at a pace equivalent to a 3:53 mile.

I agree with that. Asekol was the same distance from Valby today as SECs (more or less).
Lemngole and Olemomoi were a lot closer. I recall that the current Alabama coach has his runners train hard through SEC in the past.
I don't think this was an all out effort for any of the top 3, but I am guessing nationals will be a lot closer than SECs based on today. We will probably see Valby go hard, 1 elite chase pack who will try to run her down, and then the main chase pack.
