The policy in L.A. is to only host the athletes. L.A. never pays for the executives hotels, air fares, meals, etc. USATF took the Nike bribe as always.
Same happened at Home Depot a decade earlier for the 2 day IAAF World Cup.
What year did that happen?
Eugene does not provide gas, hotel or meals for officials. Tracktown are such cheapskates.
If you ask for help to defray costs - response "we will get someone else"
One day all the officials need to stay at home - lets see if they can muster enough help to run a track meet.

Well, Eugene must be doing something for the officials. There is no way that officials can pay $300 or $400 per night for a hotel room. Even if two officials share a room, it's too expensive.
An Olympic Trials requires a lot of officials. I don't think that there are enough officials who live in Eugene who wouldn't need a hotel room.

Nope. Tracktown hires locals only and then works them 16 hours/day for a free lunch and a t-shirt. Other officials from around the region offered their services in exchange for having their costs covered (gas, lodging, meals), Tracktown didn't bother to return their calls and e-mails. Tracktown lets the local association attend meetings, doesn't give them a voice in decisions, and then expects them to save the day providing manpower for the meets.
Brojos and Gault - there is a story here if you care to investigate and do a bit more work than collecting a PR statement. A lot of people in Oregon are angry about this. There is a huge shortage of officials and many are ready to tell Tracktown to f**k off. The sad truth is that they get compensated and treated better by the high schools that hire them for dual meets than they do working Pre, Nike Outdoors, or any other major event run by Tracktown.
