Good runs for the top 3, especially Hoppel of course…Sumner frankly looked awful compared with his performance at NCAAs. But I suppose he peaked at the right time for this stage in his career.
Quite a few people thought that Sumner would make this year's World Championship team. But today put an end to that idea.
Wow, Donald Thomas is still competing. In the Sports Gene they made it sound like he didn't like high jump and would rather play basketball. Yet he's still doing it at age 38.
can't be too critical of a PR, and he didn't tie up terribly. Looked much better today than he has all outdoors.
Meh. I think he tied up badly. He was also very mechanical throughout, with exaggerated phases…like it was unnatural for him. Like when someone makes dinner by following a recipe exactly, without taking into account variation in the quality of the ingredients.
imo not at all promising, and just another waste of time.

The long jump is Boling's best chance to make a World or Olympic team. There is more luck involved in the long jump than the sprints. Boling could have a great day and a few other jumpers could have an off day.
The long jump is worth a shot, because Boling has no shot in making the team in the sprints.
Syd looks like she has bulked up too much. I wonder if she has been working too much in the weight room. Or maybe her strength routine has been too enhanced.
NBC isn't stupid. They didn't want to put Sydney's race last in case she DNS'd. Shows what kind of reputation she and Kersee have regarding showing up for races.
