Sowinski was jogging and still pulling away.
Sowinski was jogging and still pulling away.
I think four went under. Announcers did not notice.
shout out to the morons who thought these guys would even come close to 3:53. All that talk….
disappointing for Burns and Birnbaum maybe, I don't think anyone watching was seriously expecting 3:53.
Web’s record is virtually unbreakable except if there’s a 19 year old Kalenjin Colorado/Utah/etc athlete in the next spike technology.
I have made it pretty clear at this point that I am gunning for that national record (3:53.43 by Alan Webb in 2001) – me and Simeon Birnbaum. We have Erik Sowinski pacing so it should roll through pretty fast. And I guess we will see what’s possible.

No way they finish in 53
3.57.3 is solid. But a long way from 3:53.
4 guys sub 4 though is nuts...
Birnbaum is a beast. Great for Matsatsa and Heidesch as well!
Burns did all the talking and .....

Not trying to be a downer but I'd be shocked if more than 2 dip under 4:00. Coverage starts in 1 minute. Will this be the official thread (for all 6 of us interested)?
4 dip under, not too bad, we've been spoiled lately, has this ever happened before??? Sahlmen a DNF?

Great race, but a touch disappointing given the high expectations.
What expectations? Most people expected they wouldn't get the HSR. A 3:57.5 is perfectly in line with their progression. 3:53 is light years away from what any of them have shown over 800m/1mile.
I don't see Connor Burns as the next American hope.
Tinoda Matsatsa with a 7 second PR to run 3:58

Burns said that he would go right with Sowinski and he has.
Sowinski didn’t want to gap them, so backed off pace.
Incredible, 4 high schoolers just went sub-4 in the same race and the announcers act like its any normal race.
Great win by Birnbaum even though he looked like a tool wearing sunglasses while running at nighttime.

Then why didnt he stay for another 200 at least?
just two years ago there was a guy capable of doing it had he just chosen to run an outdoor mile.

Or an 18 year old rock climber from Michigan who just started running.

Burns isn't even the best talent in his class imo. Think that goes either the Youngs or Birnbaum at this point. Birnbaum's range is crazy
Two new HS sub 4s: Matsatsa and Heidesch
