The guy mentioned that the Ventura boys team doesn’t have much depth behind their top 5. I think Blake Harris might be their good #6. He was in their top 7 last year. He also ran a 4:30 in the 1600. He is going to be a sophomore. People take big leaps between freshman and sophomore year
I think the Ventura girls teams should be listed as a team to watch too. They didn’t graduate anyone, and have a really good #1 Sadie Engelhardt. So even without the transfer Tiffany Sax, they would still be really good

Agreed. Blake Harris could be one of those athlete's that makes or breaks a team's NXN chances

Yep, they have a strong top 6 - FastHorse, Grossman, Hammel, Costa, Degeorge (all seniors under 9:36 for the 3200), and another varsity veteran sophomore Harris (also 4:30 1600). 7th spot is looking to be up for grabs
This is too early to think about, but Tesoro will be a team to watch out for in 2024. They have these 3200 times: 9:37 (c/o 2025) 9:50 (c/o 2025) 9:54 (c/o 2026) 9:59 (c/o 2025) 10:00 (c/o 2025) 10:15 (c/o 2025) 10:26 (c/o 2025) 10:32/4:47 (c/o 2026) This is probably a good thing to bring up though because it seems that all of the top CA boys teams are senior heavy this year (but Great Oak’s underclassman group is deep so they can still reload even after graduating lots of guys). Buchanan boys team is on the rise too; good to see them start working towards accomplishing what their girls team has done.
Now, Dana Hills has these 3200 times Noonan - 8:49 (11) Woodruff - 9:12 (12) Hernandez (transfer) - 9:18 (12) Hunter - 9:30 (10) Harris - 9:42 / 16:19 5k (12) Brda - 9:57 / 4:23 (12) Miller - 10:15 / 4:36 (11) Ayala - 16:34 5k (at the state meet) / 15:11 3-mile but not many track results (12)
BREAKING: Jayden Hernandez, a first-team All-Orange County cross country selection and individual champion at the Laguna Hills and Dana Hills invitationals while attending Godinez HS, has transferred to Dana Hills HS for his senior year. @ocvarsitypic.twitter.com/hVKNl2y7Ut
All the best to (former) Arcadia HS boys XC coach Harji Singh who just resigned so he could move to help his parents whose house recently burned down. Terrible... My heart breaks for him, his parents and the kids on the team. Hopefully he will be back in coaching once the situation is stabilized for his folks.
Wow, that is a huge addition for Dana Hills. This is not a great comparison because I am not taking into account any other transfers or impact freshman, but that one move in isolation jumps Dana Hills from my projected #7 to #3 in the Cal merge.
Before:
Ventura 223.7 San Clemente 291.7 Trabuco Hills 330.8 Great Oak 355.6 Mira Costa 505.5 Oakdale 528.3 Dana Hills 547.6
After: Ventura 223.7 San Clemente 291.7 Dana Hills 319.8 Trabuco Hills 330.8 Great Oak 355.6 Mira Costa 505.5 Oakdale 528.3
And with Saul Orozco transferring to JSerra, they go from unranked to #24. And that is probably under ranking them because they have 3 young runners who improved tremendously over XC and excelled at the 1600m, but didn't give the 3200m much attention, and these rankings do not rate 1600m times that strongly without either a strong 3200m or XC speed rating. But they have 3 potential stars:

Add that to Orozco who ran 4:20 but also had a XC speed rating of 178.
There is huge gap to their 5th, but if one emerges, they could be top 10.
They also have Jack Burnett who ran a 1:58 800. I know that an 800 is not the best predictor for XC but he hasn’t run any track races above that.
They also have incoming sophomore Cole Carson who beat Friedl at the Clovis invite, and he was only 12 seconds behind him at the Orange County championships. He hasn’t run many track races though.
Anyways, they have a really good sophomore class and they will be a huge threat in 2025.
They had 14 boys on the roster last year, and 11 are back (in addition to transfer Orozco).
This team is pretty impressive for how small it is
Some top times from the Time Trial I found on Strava for Ventura 2.2 miles at 9000 feet FastHorse - 10:48 - 12 Costa - 11:18 - 12 Grossman - 12:00 - 12 Harris - 12:13 - 10 Nothing found for seniors DeGeorge and Hammel.
